I agree that it's a bonus if freeman plays- like that jesse whatshisname from north a few years ago.
Difference being of course we paid a whole lot less than a second round pick.

I'm still scratching my head as to how/why we paid market value + overs for an uncontracted player who nominated us (and only us).

That whole "to show we're good to deal with, so we can get jaeger etc" approach has already cost us PLENTY. (freeman + paying pick 5 AND a 2nd rounder for jake)

It had better amount to something otherwise we are just "good to deal with" because we're happy to get bent over the trade table!
That's a bit of a glass half empty....

We got Carlisle AND Gresham for picks 5 & 24... Slight overs, but not too bad IMHO

We gave up 2016 2nd round pick for Freeman, which could end up being pick 30+ after academy kids are selected next year.... That's a win to us & high reward if comes off, & in perspective, we didn't really give up a lot in pick 30-odd

Then secured Brandon White who we were rumoured to take at pick 24.... Steal

Then scored Rice as F/S for pick 49.... Bonus

Happy to play the long game with Freeman. If it doesn't come off, we haven't lost much in terms of a single mid-2nd round draft pick.

Looks like a fair few went off half-cocked... Freeman to start running Monday.

Luckless Saint set to take some steps forward

LUCKLESS midfielder Nathan Freeman is set to relaunch his stalled first pre-season at St Kilda on Monday as he continues his recovery from another hamstring strain.

Freeman suffered the slight strain to his troublesome right hamstring earlier this week, extending his wretched run since he was recruited by Collingwood with pick 10 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.

5 days post hamstring strain is pretty standard. In fact with most hamstring strains you can start running (read light jogging) 2-4 days post injury. Usman Khawaja was "running" less than 48 hours after his injury. Now Freeman isn't "most" hamstrings and I'm glad to hear he isn't wrapped completely in cotton wool but that he is to start "running" on Monday probably isn't as significant as it may sound.

However, as I've said here a few times I have great faith in Andrew Wallis sorting him out in the long term. I still think the Freeman trade will be a big win for us when all is said and done.

Yes exactly.

Settle the **** down doomsayers, but then again I guess the doomsayers won't be pleased until there's footage of him back running as the club likes to 'make stuff up' etc
Just saw footage of him running:thumbsu:
Hope this finally shuts up all the doomsayers:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Settle the **** down cheer squad, he's hardly won the brownlow either. I will be happy when he's had 6 months injury free football...very very happy. Until then I'm going to panic my ****ing head off.

Alan Richardson is chairmen of the lizard society.

Wake up sheeple

Like I said in a previous post, we gave up roughly pick 30 next year for him.... I'm not going to going to be losing much sleep if he doesn't come good any time soon, he's got 3 years to do it, but feel free to be an anxious mess

Wow. Just because we have had good news on Freeman no need for abuse.
Thought you would be happy. I suppose someone's opinion on a subject is more important than good news about our players.

Personally I Am Very Happy to Hear It Is Only Minor. Most supporters would be.
Oh well.....

Like I said we gave up what is potentially the pick we got Goddard and Dunstan with. The academy picks aren't really live picks are they. I was being funny because you have an outburst but maybe I should have done a few emoticons so it didn't freak Joffa out too much. Anyway I want him to be a gun, I want him to be injury free and I'm glad it's less serious than first thought but it's made me conscious of how vulnerable his hamstrings still are. I was worried we over paid before the latest set back.

I'm concerned because I don't want any mistakes on our path to future success. We have bypassed the draft to get these guys in and so far there has ben a drug scandal and an injury scare. I'm glad you are so chilled about it all.

It's all speculation, I mean literally speculation. So it all comes down to whether you are a pessimist or an optimist. I personally can't see how we'll get games into half the players that need it so for someone to take a bit of time is probably a good thing.

Next year we need to get some game time into Sinclair, Minchington, Ross, Gresham and possibly Billings from an inside perspective so I'm happy for Freo to build gradually.

On another note, is anyone else seeing the irony of Pies supporters rejoicing in Freeman's ongoing ills, but then they have Scharenberg on their list....
What would you expect from those Neanderthals. Will be the first to whinge in Aish or Treloar is injured.
Not called the filth for nothing

I think the Nathan Freeman of today is a little bit better than the Nathan Freeman of a week ago, though slightly behind the Nathan Freeman of November 2015.

I’m still hopeful that the Nathan Freeman of April 2016 and beyond will be the best of the lot though

He'll be 2-3 weeks away
But then again, you're the utter dickhead who said you hope he never plays another game on your own board, so you're hardly an objective observer.

Even your own famously inclusive supporters appear to think you're a bellend.

What a dickhead .

Good point I hope Jake Carlisle is given 2 years by WADA so we can play the kids. ;)
