People need to understand Freeman isn't just plonk him into a new surrounding and he will be right type of Job. It's a rebuild of his running style and complete strengthening of his legs. He will play 10 games for us atleast this year. The aim is to have him ready to explode by 2017. Also our medical team expected hiccups such as this along the way. The positive is that he hasn't reinjured or been sore in his previous area of discomfort

I haven't heard anyone saying too much negative. It seems like there can't be any grey area on BF. It's with us or against us. No one wants him to be a bust or Carlisle to fail. It's just a natural conclusion that if a player with an injury history aggravates a similar injury people's hearts skip a beat. Like people kept saying Fisher will be sent packing if he breaks down again, people assume the worst.

We knew he was high risk, high reward but so far he's leaning slightly toward the risk on the balance scale. As you say he's got three years to tip them back but he's definitely leant to one side now.

I think he's sitting exactly where you'd expect a guy with his concerns. He was always going to have the odd set back given the correction in action needed has only just started to be addressed.

He'll only move away from the susceptible range once his body has strengthened and his action improved/changed.

The upside on this kid was worth the punt given his talent.
Some of the frustration is around the expectation level that was originally set.

The general gist of the talk was "he's been through a lot but that's all behind him now, he's finally got his body right, he's set to go and we are about to see the best of him". If the goal posts have changed - a la "he has to change his running style and we're not expecting much out of him for a while" (loose quote) - then that's different from what the talk has been which is fine but that's an altering of the expectations that many had which then leads to the frustration some feel.

I know some will howl "show me where that was said?" which requires an exhaustive investigation of everything posted by the club and ITK's but I think most would concede that was the general initial expectation.
It is understandable on that basis, some might be a little concerned on how much the club medicos really know and ultimately, the wisdom of the trade.

Pardon the intrusion, but..
FYI and FWIW...
Here in Pieland we now have Scharenberg injured yet again and looking to be sitting out a sizeable chunk of 2016...and Aish just pulled up looking sore at training. Dunno 'bout you blokes but yours truly is desperately trying to get a grip on not hyperventilating every time one of our kids has an injury or recovery setback.
Yeah, I know...
Easier said than done.
Anyhoo, hope young Freeman proves himself a champion for the Saints (yet inexplicably never has a good one against the Pies).

It will be a nightmare for Collongwood and its hoard of reptile supporters if Freeman dominates.

Yes I am serious and it was me that spotted him. I am reluctant to post on your forum as most StKilda supporters are either don't care or are just being ridiculously silly in response. I was not trying to stir trouble, I thought StKilda supporters would want to know about their new recruit.

Saints play it safe with injury-prone recruit

ST KILDA recruit Nathan Freeman will not feature in the NAB Challenge as the Saints take a conservative path with the midfielder's recovery from hamstring troubles.

Freeman, who was repeatedly sidelined in his two years at Collingwood, strained his right hamstring again in December during his first summer with the Saints.

Looks like he is again 2 weeks away from the main group. Can the people ITK elaborate more on this because it seems as though every week he seems to be 2 weeks away from the main group. It's been a month now that they have been saying the ol 2 weeks away line.

I was told late last week he could play nab 2, richo in the interview even says he could play. They are just being conservative because there will be alot of expectation on him when he is fit

It will be interesting when he rejoins the main group and with this super conservative approach how the hamstring holds up. He has already had a minor hiccup without being involved with first team training.
