In part I would say it's a coping mechanism. Why does there always seem to be a rush to be the first to write blokes off?

Agree.The first?
People have been writing him off since day one of the trade.
I was happy to let him rebuild year one
Wrapt he was getting constant games year two.
But year three we are back to twanging hammies rehab and possible surgery i.e back to year one.
If he hasn't played seniors by end of year we need to cut our losses.
Feel for the kid but run this by Markworth.

He was always a risk and always going to be a bonus.I think our mentality on here has changed.
It was originally seen as Nathan being a key component of our next premiership tilt.
Now it’s seen as if he can get out on the park then it’s an absolute bonus to our side.
Pretty much this. Combine what you are saying with the fact he is a player whose whole game revolves around explosive speed and it just doesn’t look like it’s going to work out unfortunately.Unfortunately that's probably the most likely outcome. Xavier Clarke was the same, just extremely unlucky with injury. I heard Boomer Harvey on the radio saying he'd never had a single soft tissue injury in his whole career, his dad played until he was ancient and was the same. Seems like it's a totally unfair genetic thing with Freeman unfortunately.
To be honest, it’s been a very long shot that he’ll make it for a long time. I feel the bloke, but it’s looking even less likely now.
I’m confused, people who went to the match sim reported seeing him out there, pretty sure there was a tweet about him slotting a goal on the run from 45m out but you’re saying he didn’t play?It was the same one. He didn't injure it on Friday like The Age reported because he didn't even play in the match sim to begin with.
It's a cleanup of scar tissue, as I said a few weeks back he did twang it slightly, it's probably going to sideline him for a couple of weeks. He would be ruled out for JLT 1 but possibility for JLT 2.
He was definatly at the match sim and he did kick a goal.I’m confused, people who went to the match sim reported seeing him out there, pretty sure there was a tweet about him slotting a goal on the run from 45m out but you’re saying he didn’t play?
It was reported on SEN that he was doing his own training on Friday when it happened..
All the club can do really. This year is his last shot at it IMO mate. If he doesn't get a handful of games in this season I'd say it's over for him unfortunately. Super talent but just can't get out there. Comes a time when the club needs to bite the bullet and do what they can to get him to play, they need to put him through the rigours of an AFL game and if he isn't up to it we let him go, as horrible as it sounds.
All the club can do really.
Worthwhile to give it a go. 3 years is generous but like Markworth is always injured.
Really bad luck but we need to move on.

Hopefully the removal of scar tissue will be the saving grace otherwise stick a fork in him.Yep. Plays ones this year or that's it sadly. I'm still not 100% giving up but he has an even more uphill battle now by the looks
Yeah it's horrible but need to do what's best for club. All the club can do really.
