I'm on the fence with Freezer at the moment. I think he probably needs a few more gallops in the VFL for both match fitness and touch, he looked pretty scrappy in that last qtr and a bit.

I also think that longer we wait the more likely he's just going to get an another injury and never get a shot and he'd also be a ripping story for the group and it would be huge for the kid.

Seems pretty clear by what they're saying about him on both the club and AFL websites that he isn't match fit yet and will need at least one more run so that he's running games out fully.

Good sign that he's had 28 disposals in each of his games despite not being match fit tho. Early last year he was getting about half that, and gradually worked his way up to 30+, so he's way ahead of where he was 12 months ago, by the looks of it.

Why would they rush him now. There is actually not one thing to be gained but plenty to lose. The standard and pace of the 2 games is massive and imagine the uproar on here if he got injured. It’s like some of those wanting richo sacked now where as around 12 games a go many of those were happy for him to re sign. Freezer will play when the club think he is ready and that is exactly what they do. They may do many things wrong but this time they are doing the right thing.

Yeh I agree 100%. Imagine rushing him back and him doing a hammy, stuff of knightmares!

Not unhappy that he does not debut for the Collingwood game. I think it adds pressure on him and just imagine the reception he'll get from the great unwashed!
( Certain visiting Pies posters excepted.)

Contrary to popular belief the club is not stupid. You do not let your current win loss ratio dictate gifting games to players who have either not earned it or are not fit enough to play. If we played Freeman this week it would pi$$ in the face of players who have consistently performed on the track and at Sandy for numerous weeks and earned their debut, a la Phillips. And to be honest, I'm sure Freeman would feel the same way. He would want to earn it, not be given a debut because dumb short sighted supporters want something to smile about on here..

Dissappointed for the kid all tound really. Came over to your board to see if he is any chance to debut this week. Sounds like he may need anothrr run or 2 in the 2's... which is a shame. Would have been a great story to debut against the Pies.

Great to hear he's close. Could be an out and out Superstar if he has some luck with injury. He's a Bull.

So... about De Goey. Take our 2019 first pick, and we have a deal.

Don't see what we have to lose by bringing him in and having him play 65% of the game in the middle/wing. The club desperately needs a good news story and this is the only one I can think of right now.

Can’t have Freeza and Phillips both doing that. You can carry one, not both.

Might be unpopular but I’d go the other way. I would try to break him. Give him another two weeks then put him in the middle and put the pressure on him to get up to speed as soon as possible. We need to make a tough decision on him at the years end and the truth is that he is into his fifth year on a list and we still don’t know if his body can withstand the rigours of AFL football.

If he comes good hoorah. If he breaks down again or is just not good enough, we get to make an informed decision.

I think we should play him one or two weeks before the bye, which would be against the swans at home and the SUns away. A week earlier and he cops a trip to the west.
As soon as he is deemed fit to play in the 1's play him, if that's this week play him, if that's next week play him etc. Shouldn't be a particular week or what not in my opinion, as soon as he is ready he needs to come in especially if his VFL performances warrant it.

Yes, if anyone deserves to get a game ( when hes ready) it's this kid. So I'm holding thumbs itll be soon. Despite my joke about Pies supporters, it would have been a good story if he did play. But better to be 100% ready I think.

campaigner would have to be 34 years old by now
Thats the thing. He really isn't.

Freeman is less than a year older than Paddy and less than two years older than Long.

The kid is still only 22. Phillips debuted last week at 20 and no one batted an eyelid. Most people have no patience I guess.

Put him in the square this week, make him captain, wait for finals glory.

In all seriousness though, would be great to see him play in the seniors. He could also make thousands as a motivational speaker if he gets to play a a few games after all he's been through.

Just read the ‘in the mix’ article on the saints website, no mention of Freezer in the group of guys down below with a chance to come up this week, Rice and White were the main two being touted as potential ins but take this with a grain of salt I guess as I reckon rice has been there nearly every week.

It was a joke. I know he isn’t 34.

Hard to say we have no patience though, he’s a pretty unique case. I can’t think of many that have been on an AFL list for almost 5 years without a game. That is exactly why it will be a huge success for him if he finally debuts.
