If I was a betting man, and I’m not cos the missus holds the purse strings, I’d have my hard-earned on a Dogs game debut if he goes ok against Box Hill this week.

If you consider that Stevens might well get a farewell lap, and Paton is a potential debut as well, it seems perfect; a home debut, but one where he’s not the sole focus.

It's getting awfully late in the season for Nate. Only five to go and if he misses again we're down to four. Does that indicate they are serious about keeping him on? Will they give him a token game in round 23 for sentimental reasons? If they were serious, I thought they might have had a look this week and at least give him a few consecutive games to show his wares. Or are they just going to rookie him next year, or abandon the experiment that cost a million dollars, three years and a second round draft pick?

Given the season is now a complete bust, why not have a look. If he's getting around 30 possies a game, and given our circumstances, it's not as though we're risking anything. Others seem to have done far less to earn a game. Get into Richo's office, Nate, grab the campaigner by the lapels and demand that game.

In breaking news, Richo has just missed out on the role of Bernie, in a remake of "Weekend at Bernie's." Apparently he didn't have enough personality for the role.

Not really sure what he needs to do to show he’s ready? Does richo genuinely think a professional footballer is going out on the weekend with the mindeset of ‘im gonna do enough to get through’ but not go 100% yet. He’s played six games consecutively and just had his best game for the season lol. Maybe playing him at the top level will bring his best out instead of being wasted at VFL level. You’d swear we have 22 in form players playing fantastic with some of our selections.

I can see it now, held out until round 23 and given his debut. Itl be bloody disappoint if that’s the case because I don’t know how you re-sign the bloke off of one game. He needs to play now and at least string a month of footy together at the senior level.

I could accept your line of argument except for one thing. That's every time I see Nathan Wright's name in the inclusions.

Just what stellar attributes does he bring to the table and how many games has he torn it up at Sandy ?
Wrightys tough in the contest and has the type of foot skills where after and lots of pressure - rofl

How many people who are claiming Richo has "no idea" regarding Freeman's selection has actually watched him play every week in the VFL, see him at training compared to the other players and know exactly what Richo and the other staff want to see from his football?

Sounds like it.

Had consistent selection policy over last couple of years of not selecting players when they were not 100%.

Um one is a forward and one is a mid?

They're saying his body isn't ready. If that's the case then it's understandable. It's also potentially exciting as he's racking them up in the 2s still.

Even if he doesn't debut this year we'll put him on the rookie list.

Think Richo must have been reading the write up on the Richmonds BF VFL thread and here’s the reason why he wont be selected.

“Morris collected Sandringham’s, Nathan Freeman with a perfectly timed and fair hip-and-shoulder in the opening term.

Which put the luckless Freeman out of the game with a shoulder injury.”

So with 30 possesions, before “ “ being put out of the game in a scoreless first quarter, imagine how many he would have gotten for the whole game, no wonder he can’t run at top speed, just too leg weary.:p

I think Richo was actually on the money last night. Freeman is finding plenty of the football which is great, but he’s missing the one thing that got him drafted in the top ten.

I’m not so sure he’s able to get that back, Richo seems to think that it might just be in his mind though.

If he could get his dynamic speed back it would be huge for the club.

Agree. I'm a fan but IMHO they were 30 mostly beige possessions. Knows how to find the ball but doesn't really hurt the opposition. Not much length to his kicks either.
Laid some nice crunching tackles so his shoulder must be OK. Hopefully he is getting more and more confidence and he starts tucking the ball under his arm and breaking lines. Need to see him soon because I certainly need something to cheer about in what amounts to a car crash of a season
