Although i'm very happy to get freeman, Im not sure how we are going to be able to afford Bailey Rice.

Pick 63 was important for its points value.
Only 53 points difference. Will probably need another 3rd rounder either way.

Great video package on the saints website. Exactly what we need! Hopefully he can have some good luck.

Don't think I saw him bounce the ball once!

Hope he actually knows how to do it ;)

Ameet on Freeman:

Nathan Freeman
- Very happy with Nathan
- Medical team is comfortable. Happy with where he's at. Can treat him. Expect him to be ready for Round 1
- Modified program to start with. Medical advice says he should be ready for round 1 (again)
- Same page as Collingwood with negotiation (in terms of what to exchange). Other deals held it back. Second round pick was about right.
- Lives in Dingley, grew up a Saints supporter. But Bains reckons there's 'broader reasons' as to why players move clubs (obviously)

I think given his limited game time, don't expect to see him before round 5, if not round 11.

Seems to add to our needs. What is his kicking skills like? Seems like a Jack Steven clone by the highlights packaged.

Kicking by all reports is average/medium, it's not a strength but not an area of concern.

The reality is we haven't really seem him play in 2 years though, his handful of VFL games he did get through were done with a dodgy hammy.

He is definitely one to watch for Collingwood fans, it's pretty rare for a kid to leave under these circumstances without even trying to crack into the senior team.

Good luck to the kid. Was disappointing how it played out for Pies but you can't win them all.

I expected big things in 2015 as he had been the one burning up the track for us in the pre-season ... Elite speed and also from memory was second only to Sidebottom (a genuine endurance freak) in the time trial.

I also recall when we drafted him I was shocked when he was photographed with Bucks and he was every bit as wide across the shoulders as the coach. He's a beast of a prospect, though they say his kicking needs work.

I guess another reason I am not unhappy it's the saints is I am old enough to appreciate Richo, a warrior unlucky to miss 1990 and also was a great development coach for us. Was one of my faves as a youngster, tough back pocket with a little dash.

Look forward to seeing how Freeman goes.

Im still unsure what really convinced him to leave. I think it was a fair trade. Risk vs Reward. Pies get a secound rounder next year in what is tipped to be a strong one
