How's his pace Moot? Full speed?

Yes, he's been going flat out at training now for a little while with absolutely no hamstring awareness, for the first time since before his first injury.
Everything going really positively but because of his history we will be keeping a very close eye on him (probably for rest of his career) just to make sure everybody is constantly on top of things.
Even though Dev League is a low standard I think 46 disposals in three quarters really shocked everybody.

Pretty sure we're all happy to be "shocked" Like this every single time he plays!

Unfortunately there are fools in all supporter groups.
Most football loving Pie supporters I have seen wish him well

Still shit recruiting apparently

Where are all those who kept potting your recruiters, medicos, coaches

Kids a jet and he's quicker than any current 1st 22 magpie.
Strangely the "quick" afl sides seem to be winning lots of games this year..gee imagine if only Nathan had that ability along with knowing how to get the ball

It was reported (perhaps just by people in the know on our board) that Freeman wasn't happy with how he was managed by our medical department. In terms of money, you're right nobody says it as a reason for changing clubs. Plenty of people leave jobs for money though, so I don't see why AFL is any different.

The main difference with Aish is the trade and what price was paid. We gave up 2x second round picks, downgraded another second round pick and downgraded a third round pick. (In: Aish, pick 34 + 53 ~ Out: 26, 28, 47 + a 2016 second-round pick)

Using the bidding system points before factoring in your 2nd round pick our part of the Aish trade leaves 697 points remaining. The end result will likely be about 150 to 300 points greater than pick 7 depending on where you guys finish this year. Basically in terms of points we paid pick 7 plus 3rd/4th round pick.

Conversely before factoring in your 2nd round pick the Freeman trade leaves 1391 points remaining, which will likely be around 550 to 700 points less than pick 10. Basically you paid a 2nd round pick less than where Freeman was drafted.

The main reason I think this deal was unders is the guaranteed contract offered, St Kilda obviously felt they could manage the injury risk.

With that in mind I reckon a second and third rounder with 68 going your way would have been fairer and still in your favour by around 200 to 350 points (a 3rd round pick less than where Freeman was drafted).

Why would he be happy w the Collingwood medical department? Why would any Collingwood person be happy w the last 5 years of injury and re-injury?

You're comparing the trade values of 2 players, one whose played 3 games of vfl football in 2 seasons to a player whose hardly missed a senior game...

You're making a foo if yourself.

Can't be bothered trying to find the post, but I'm sure someone here last week commented that Freeman was having big concerns about his injury, was unable to run at full tilt and would be seeking further medical opinion.

I suppose he simply collected his 46 possies, and snagged a goal, on the way to Dr Derek Zoolander's Clinic for Blokes Who’s Hammies Aren’t Good and Who Want to Run and Do Other Stuff Good Too

But why outside midfielders?

Think that may have been BrianSpeakings parting tip.

He said (paraphrasing) " Freeman is seeing a hamstring and tendon specialist because he cant go at more than 80% without feeling his hammies are going to ping".

MG stated he has been training at full pace for weeks.

May be truth in both posts. Freeman may be seeing a specialist but he may not be feeling hammy pain.

Would be interesting if he went flat out in the game on Saturday or if he was not at full pace.

MG states he is sore but no hammy soreness which is good news.

Im not sure you can play a game without extending to full pace.

It does and it doesn't, if Freeman had of been drafted at 30 St Kilda wouldn't have been offering a second round pick. Anyways let's move on Freeman's wearing a St Kilda jumper and you guys seem happy with his recent hit out and I'm happy with the blokes we bought in.

Did Freeman have his pace back or was his performance due to the slower standard?

Let's face it. If Freeman's hammies hold up and he fulfils his potential, we smashed this deal. If he breaks down and never fulfils his potential, you did well out of the trade. That's the nature of a trade involving a guy with a significant injury history like Freeman - the second round pick was about halfway between the worst case scenario and the best case scenario.

Anyway, it's very exciting news for us that he's on the park and getting leather poisoning but I'm going to be nervous every time he takes the field at any level for a long time to come.

I'm not sure what he gets out of another game in the Development Comp.
Probably just less pressure on the lad and less pressure on the coaching staff. Particularly if we (Saints) are saying we just want him to play a half, or three quarters etc. That would be a probably be an issue in the seniors, particularly if the game was in the balance.

I suppose it's not called the Development League for nothing.

just game time, continuation, its been said its going to be a slow process before he plays AFL. let him string a few games together in the dev squad, gathering some confidence in his hammies before we expect more from him, he's barely played a game in 2 years, no rush.

The fact he played only 3 quarters leads me to believe he will build up to a full game before moving to Sandy 1s. Probably a month there, but if he's stays right, from everything I've heard, he fills a real need and does it in spades.

I'm not sure what he gets out of another game in the Development Comp. Obviously we are in no rush with him but if he's going flat out in the Dev Comp he might as well be doing it in the VFL, he's clearly too good for that standard of footy.

We can only play 15 listed Saints players in the VFL (sorry to bring this up Defacto) so someone will have to play in the development league if he moves up.

He may be more talented than others on the list, but I would rather us ease him back into the higher levels than rush him back in and send another listed player to the Development league.
