Some bad news on the Freeman heartburn front.

Left the track early after a relapse this morning

Word is that he has been put on Nexium 20gm twice a day.

Further discussions from the medico's will take place in the next couple of days.

Sounds like he may have to go the full nuclear option of Nexium 40's.

Terrible news.

Bust
Bugger!

Are you confident we can get him right?

Considering you're expertise here :)
Being honest, every little set back makes me a little more anxious, but the club is going about everything the right way.

I don't want to speculate because the only thing we get told is that he's 'had a setback'. That could be a plethora of things from ranging from tightness, minor tear, scar tissue tear, myofascial adhesion issues, sciatic nerve issues etc etc.

Then there's the psychological issues of stressing about any sensation felt in the back of the leg.

The fact that he was able to get through 3/4 of a match just 2 weeks back is encouraging. If I was having a guess, I would say he probably tweaked some previous scar tissue or just had tightness. If it was anything more serious than that they'd be saying 3-4 weeks

Thank you for replying.

Happy to give him the whole year to get the body right.

I doubt he'll ever be right. Hes had hammy problems since the day he was drafted. Played like 3 VFL games in which is now his third season.
Hes had times where we think yes he'll be right now hes going really well, then something like this will happen again and again and you'd suspect now it even when he gets his body right, it'll just be a matter of time before the hammy goes again...
Anyway thats the consequences of recruiting a player with well known injuries and hopefully recruiters take full responsibility should he not reach his potential.

WOWEE this is becoming a common trend is it not? If this goes on another year you'd almost have to write him off not getting near his potential.
Its becoming ridiculous kid can't catch a break
Fingers crossed for the Boy, we need him

Sounds very similar to what they said last time, wouldn't be surprised if 1 - 2 weeks turns into 6 - 8 weeks
I don't know, last time he legit strained it. This time they're actually saying that they thought he'd injured it and were worried but scans turned out all good, so they'll just slow him down for a week or two. By the sounds of things he's still training in some fashion, seems like more of a step sideways than a step backwards like last time. Cox seems pretty relieved which is good.

Hamstring awareness sounds more psychological than physical. He prob felt something minor & shat himself. Fair enough that he's paranoid after all the issues.

If you look through my posts of a few weeks ago you will see a post where I said "perhaps I know something you don't". Sadly it appears as though this kid is never going to realise his potential.
The club now in damage control, lost a highly valuable second round pick in this years draft plus have spent $1 million in him...he's a cripple.
Ouch.

Such a st kilda thing. Recruiting team is gonna have to pull some rabbits out of the hat

Hope your right, but they said scans revealed no significant damage, a little different to all good. Anyhow lets hope he is back on the park next couple of weeks

The key phrase used is... "because of his History"

If this was another player on our list, he would be playing this weekend. This is precautionary. Still frustrating but a precaution none the less.
Do you know if he is training and with the main group

honestly i have no idea - didn't even know he had a set back until a few hours back.

Wont be training with the main group tomorrow as generally thursday is our main training for the weekends games.

just focus on this part of the article - the rest of it is abit of fluff looking to attract collingwood fans with the headline.

“The news is actually ultimately good in that there is nothing significantly wrong. It was a minor issue, but what it will lead to because of his history, we will pull him back.

“He would have played this week ordinarily and he won’t now play this weekend, we will now put him back into training ... he should be back playing, if not next week, then the week after.

“To be honest, we thought it was worse than what it turned out to be.’’

“He trained on Tuesday, not sure what his distances were, but he ran pretty well — just not flat out,’’ Cox said.

“He is mobile and already up and about again, which is good.

“It’s an issue that will slow him down for a week or two, but hopefully nothing more than that. You never say it’s good news, but it’s a slight relief based on what might have been.’’

Come on Stavro, we will be rolling that line out until the day he is delisted, the press release will say "He was delisted because of his history."

As Rahul will attest, The young Rooster with the deltoids was damn good in the prestigious 9 ******* A's!
Cmon Brian, you should know more then anyone that if this was Tom Curren or Blake Acres that both would be playing the same week. Effectively Cox is saying he felt abit tight and not as free and they are holding him back - Why? because Freeman's history says he will go twang.

The scans showed nothing and they anticipate him back in hopefully a week.

With his history is there such a thing as a minor issue ? or is he one hamstring tear away from being done

Lol, how many times are we going to hear that??
Just like we heard it when he had a minor strain then was out for 3 months and came back through the 3rds.

the club got this bloke checked by multiple specialists before we traded for him. they all believe he would be fine and the plan that our conditioning team and medicos came up with should work and thats the plan we are using. i dont see why a bloke who is 20 would be cooked
