I see posts by the likes of BS, who does have some sort of connection with the club. He's gone from an outlook that was initially positive to one that suggests he's done.

I'd be very disappointed if he doesn't still have a good outlook, because if he is close to being a write off already, our medical staff have made a very bad call.
Like Brian I hope he's very wrong .

well that settles it then. The final word.

JOM will be very interesting l've read a lot about his injury (ruptured patella tendon) and it's seems very few professional sportsmen from around the world come back from it very successfully. They seem to be plagued by knee and hamstring issues for the rest of their careers. Very unfortunate l hope l'm wrong regardless of where he ends up.
It seems that the chances of returning from ruptured patella tendons is lower than ACL but higher than from ruptured achilles so I'm more concerned about Goddard than O'Meara.

At least we will have an idea about O'meara by draft time, but we be hoping for the best outcome for Hugh come draft time.

Are they doctors?

May well be correct, or hopelessly wrong. We don't know.

And that is the point, nobody here knows. The only opinion I have read about a career ending injury has been Rors on JOM.

Give you three with hamstring issues, Rioli, Burgoyne, Ried. All out for significant time, all now playing AFL.

Why wont you cut Freeman some slack? He is at the Saints for three years, and halfway through the first have had some setback, none of which has been major like the initial injury.

Until Freeman is officially ruled out of football, I will give him a go, just like all Saints players. Seems like some want him to fail so they can be triumphant about the trade.
Considering I want to see the Saints win, I want nothing more than a fit Freeman running about in the seniors.

Do you, or is your opinion being justified more important?
Every orthopaedic surgeon in Melbourne also said don't draft Joel Selwood, he would very quickly have bone on bone issues in his knee. We were going too but the cats jumped in after many passed on him. The rest is history. So as posted above, I don't think Freeman was a disastrous pick, just one worth taking knowing that this year there are a heap of academy kids who will be bid on pushing us way back in the second round. It's like a third round pick in the old days.

We don't have a second pick, we spent it on Freeman

I thought the word was that the draft was running around 40 deep with quality midfielders this year.

Quality is a word thrown around lightly IMO. To me there is high quality and low quality, there are no high quality players like Freeman is if fit available in the 30's this year IMO.

What was originally our second pick will net about the 35th best eighteen year old in the land. That is pick 35 in the 2016 draft. I don't know where you got 'pick 25' from. We have swapped (approximately) the 35th best player for Freeman. I call that a cheap deal. All clubs have the option of bidding on Academy players and F/S, and whilst a club may not win that particular bid, those players are not void, they are all in the draft.

Putting all freeman issues aside- this whole including the academy and F/S selections drives me nuts.

Sure our 2nd round pick will indeed be the 35th best 18 year old in the land.

Except the fact is we only have access to 25 of those 35 best 18 year olds!!

The other 10 f/s and academy picks are locked away from us-they aren't an option.
Forget about them- they don't exist to us.

So freeman will have effectively cost us pick 25 (or whatever it happens to be at the end of the year).
That's an undisputable fact.

I don't think you'll find ANYONE disputing a healthy freemans' quality- especially when the passmark for 'quality' is being set so high as pick 30's.

That's the bit people are disputing.
