"It ain't over till its over". Nathan Freeman is yet to retire due to injury , and 2018 will be only his fifth year in the system. People are frustrated with the situation , because they are so desperate for him to succeed. Imagine how he feels ! That makes for one very motivated young man , when finally unleashed. Sometimes the right decision is made , that reaches an unfortunate outcome (Hello Andrew Lovett) , but that is yet to happen with Nathan. I'd prefer this club to have an occasional "swing for the fences".

Depends if you wanna believe a Saintsational inside source or words that came from the said player just last week..

You decide!
I wanna believe he's all good and that he perhaps only had some "awareness". Unfortunately no facts to shed any light and the prospect of Freeza himself being damned if he does (shed light) and damned if he doesn't.

We're all treading on egg shells here I'm afraid.

I wanna believe he got through last season without a hamstring injury.... oh wait he did.

Should’ve just amputated his foot there and then and put paid to all this will he/ won’t he discussion ;)

I’m not giving up on him yet.

Only 10 shares left in our BigFooty Player Sponsorship of Freeze.
$25 per share so not a huge sum but helps support the club and may get you a ticky to an event too!

I still have hope for Freeman to overcome his injuries. It's too early to call if he will or won't make it. For example, we all thought Richmond won't even make the finals, boom premiership. Hopefully it's the same with Freeman, give the kid a chance. Sometimes in life, your gonna be put through a lot to get end of the tunnel. I still strongly believe he will least play one game for us!!!

Richo is a pathological liar. We know the truth!

I'm tendon to think Richo is a bit hamstrung by not really being able to talk openly about the hamstring.

St Kilda speedster stepping up training in bid for long-awaited debut
http://m.afl.com.au/news/2018-02-08/luckless-saint-in-really-good-shape-richo
I don't get it, I thought some ITK on SS said he was injured. Is the club just lying, or was there some kind of misunderstanding.

I reckon AFLX is as good a place as any to put him through his paces. It's a shorter format isn't it? Surely that's a good thing. If he gets through and has an impact, could be a great news story for us, increased membership requests perhaps. If he breaks down, it doesn't cost us H&A games and we can sooner get him fixed.

In any case, I don't see why any Saints fan is in such a hurry to write him off. It seems a bit mentally weak, like the person who believes the worst to protect their emotions from disappointment later. Until he throws in the towel or the club moves on, I will anticipate that any break down will be followed by healing and re-load, no matter what the probability of success is.

Will Nathan Freeman finally make his debut in 2018?
I've never met someone as strong as him mentallyAlan Richardson on Nathan Freeman

LUCKLESS St Kilda midfielder Nathan Freeman will move out of his modified program and into match simulation on Friday, with coach Alan Richardson excited about the speedster's potential to improve his midfield in 2018.

Freeman is yet to make his AFL debut after four seasons – including the past two with St Kilda – but the Saints have designed a specialised program for the midfielder that has helped recapture his leg speed and prevent injury.

Richardson said the 22-year-old had been held out of the main training group by design this summer to complete a stringent conditioning program, but he was ready to be released 19 days before the opening JLT Community Series match against Carlton.

JLT Community Series: When's your team playing?

"His speed is now as high as it's been in two years, so he's starting to back himself and trust his legs," Richardson told AFL.com.au.

"He's had a really good run at it in the period leading up to Christmas and post-Christmas, so he'll now join in.

"He's in really good shape and mentally he's still really positive. I've never met someone as strong as him mentally.

"I've been really impressed by him and I really want him to have a bit of luck … our whole group does. He's a really popular person and I'm really optimistic for 'Freezer' now."

After his first two seasons at Collingwood were all but wiped out by hamstring injuries, Freeman moved to St Kilda ahead of the 2016 season and was able to play eight games in the VFL and VFL development league.

The No.10 pick in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft then put together an extended block of VFL football for the first time in 2017, pushing for senior selection in the second half of the season.

His campaign was ended in round 18, however, when he suffered a right ankle syndesmosis injury at the time the Saints' match committee was contemplating his debut.

Richardson said Freeman had the type of body that would require him to get everything right in his preparation, but his "power of conditioning" work this summer had him ready for the rigours of senior football.

With a wealth of inside ball-winners at his disposal, the coach was excited about Freeman's ability to deliver the outside speed his team needs.

"He's exactly what we think complements the work we've already done with our group," Richardson said.

"We think that we've potentially got a really good balance in there, but he's part of that balance.

"We want him to be part of that balance of inside and outside, the aggressive ball-winners and those who can support that on the outside.

"That's what he's here for and we're really hopeful he gets there.

LOLOL
that was a whole lot of doom n gloom on here over a rumour on SS wasnt it .
Every other time Nath had a slight strain or setback in the past the clubs been pretty open about it i thought.
And when he had that good run of consecutive games in the VFL they were still being cautious and not pumping it up too much in the media.
But one rumour on SS and heaps of peeps wrote him off.

Just relax peeps.

The top pic looks like the fatty-Paddy photoshop job.

This is fantastic news.

There are a lot of reasons why I’d like too see Nathan make it. Because we could really use some speed out of the middle. Because it validates the bravery of the hard working staff who rolled the dice. Because it’d be nice to watch Pies supporters squirm in their seats. Because it’d be nice to hear the silence from some of our own.

But most of all, because Nathan is one of us. A died in the wool Saints fan. I just know that he will bleed red, white and black.
