I’d like to provisionally welcome Freezer to the Barrels “What Could Have Been” team.

Well done on selection.

FB: J.Attard - L.Penny - L.Fisher
HB: Jo.Smith - M.Maguire - D.Sierakowski
RK: M.Gardiner - Je.Smith - Ja.Cripps
CR: X.Clarke - N.Freeman* - D.Bourke
HF: A.Hamill (c) - J.Koschitzke - R.Owen
FF: J.Traianidis - F.Watts - G.Fode
IC: J.Allen L.Ball S.White T.Lee

Was it Brian Gleeson who won the Brownlow and never played again ? Could be a handy addition to the team!

If you are going to go back as far as Brian Gleeson, you may as well add Paul Dodd. Selected in Victorian team as rover alongside Skilts and Allen Aylett. Career ended shortly after. Would be the best small man in that team.

How dare you put Traianidis in there

Was a personal favourite of mine. For the life of me can’t remember why...

I only included players I saw, otherwise Skinny Cooper should be in there too.

I think Ball did enough miss out on selection. Unless you are going by the logic that, if he was fully fit he would have been Judd like.

John Bonney likes this post, as does Gellie.

The club is still considering it. He hasn't gone in for surgery yet.

Why wait weeks to SEE a surgeon?
Not have surgery.

The surgeon is the one who advises if surgery is viable/useful.

I ask again, why wait weeks to SEE a surgeon?

Given that he is SEEING a surgeon this week... it makes far more sense that he injured himself last week.

Why on earth would the club have waited so long to get a consult if he did indeed injure it weeks ago?

Got no idea mate

**** I hope he makes it, The Collingwood fans happy he's injured does my head in, Poor kid.

Amazing isnt it that they can laugh about us recruiting Freeman but they have Wells that can't get on the park and Mayne who you wouldn't let on the park.

Ok.
So here's my idea:
1. 2ish weeks ago, as you said- he pulled up with a little injury/awareness whatever.
2. 1 week ago, Despite this awareness/ injury- the club ok him to run around on friday- hammy goes twang.
3. Now. Surgeon consult for hammy twang.

in my mind, this is far more plausible than the timeline of:
1. 2ish weeks ago- awareness/ little injury.
2. 1 week ago. Last friday the media jump on it like its a new injury that happened on friday, but nothing new happened on friday- he's still just got a little injury/awareness. No twang.
3. Now. Surgeon consult 2 weeks after injury to explore surgical options for awareness/ little injury.

I think the club took the training wheels off when he noticed awareness a couple of weeks ago... and instead of wrapping him in cotton wool they told him to push through and see if his body really is up to 'the rigors of AFL'.
The answer appears to be a resounding no

Shit! it was a second round draft pick that they used as steak knives to get some spud.

He injured his hammy in mid to late Jan. He didn't compete in any match sim on the Friday that the media are going on about. And I'm going by what the club have said re his surgery. Not to mention a lot of people here have really eaten up the sensationalist crap the media have released about Nathan - it isn't as bad as they make it out to be. And someone else earlier said the media doesn't care so why should the club protect the player from media scrutiny. Well here's your answer. They get wind of something, regardless of how minuscule it is, and they completely blow it out of proportion.

His hamstring has only been an issue once this year, not twice. I don't know where you're getting your information from. Maybe joop.

Haha so you won’t speak to me but you’ll Have a dig at me? I haven’t claimed to have any information sunshine, you have. You said he didn’t participate in any match sim which is false, the media never reported he played in a match sim on Friday?? From the AFL site;

Freeman, 22, thought he had corked his troublesome hamstring at training on Friday, but closer examination this week proved otherwise.

and;

"He was here two weeks ago and played in the match simulation and looked fine, kicked a couple of goals and did a good job, so he's on the mark to be thereabouts.

So maybe try get your bullshit stories right before you wanna have a crack a me mate.
