Here's the thing though, i watched about a quarter of the game and i saw him lay at least 2 or 3. Granted, they werent "effective" tackles or he was 2nd man in, so they wouldn't count - but the intent was there. It may be that his shoulder injury has robbed him of some strength to take blokes down.

But if we are judging purely on tackles as a measure of who gets a game, this is from yesterday:

Probably right, most on here would watch matches with the bias of a Saints supporter, enjoying the the good moments (not many this year), and lamenting the poor plays, and expressing criticism/praise. I think you watch games on a purely subjective basis, desperately seeking material to continue your negative rants. Sigh. Another year of your TMBK posts next year. Maybe you could fire up again on Trout for awhile - he is still at the club till the end of the year, most likely helping the recruiting team.

Not saying they are better but here's who I'd be looking at to manage, rest, send for surgery whatever in order for these players to get a run.

Freeman - Ross, Dunstan

Paton - Newnes Savage

Goddard - Brown or Carlisle

Connelan - Weller

Joyce - Gilbert

Pierce - Hickey or Longer.

Ok our 2018 season is well and truly dusted. 2019+ needs to be our focus.

Freeman has now played a solid run of games and even if the coaches are concerned about the defensive side of his game, the Dogs match is an ideal chance to blood him to see if he is up to AFL level or not.

I mean yes they may be concerned about the defensive side of his game, BUT they have players in the seniors now who have major flaws with parts of their game.

Play him now and if he goes ok he may well play out the year in the seniors It will give the coaches a better idea of whether he should be retained or not at seasons end.

Lastly in this bad news season it will provide a point of interest for fans and with our membership now really starting to fall behind other clubs we need ways for fans to stay engaged with the club. It will not be long before the club starts selling 2019 membership. I suspect that selecting him will also give the playing group as a whole a bit of a boost.
