Kennedy Disposal was Hot and Cold last season.

Had some really good ones along with some bad ones.

Hope more Experience will fix that
Hot and cold disposal is poor diosposal. Poor disposal is rarely ever raised above an average level. Dane Swan is an otherwise elite player who has improved greatly over the year in everything but his kicking. Sometimes it is very good but far too often it is poor.

The good kicks are clearly evident from day 1.

Another example is Ben Reid. He looked like a possible flop as a forward taken at pick 8. His goal kicking was a nightmare of jangling nerves and stuttering, silly walks. Now he is an AA backman with one of the best field kicks at the club, and is clearly our best second forward. We will be moving heaven and earth to re-sign him this year.
Reid was always promising. he looked like he knew where the ball was going and how mark it. He had the jitters in his set shots for sure but his field kicking was never suspect.

Then if he is a Shit Kick. Why did he go so High in the Draft?

He definitely isn't a shit kick

Kind of like dangerfield, good kick normally (not elite) however he can screw some up when he is running at extreme pace like everyone

I thought the guy was talking about Ben Kennedy who be Simmlar I guess in that when they Kick at Full Pace the can at time have Miss Kicks

Naling a pass at full pace is one of the hardest skills to learn, some never get it. If you can get hold of some '70's Pie vision watch Barry Price very carefully, bullet like passes and always to McKenna's advantage landing lace out on his chest.

The Barry Prices of this world are worth their weight in gold.

Players would of been much slower in the 70s... far easier to nail them.

My Dad said "Price would get the Ball from the Ruck then take a Few Steps and Kick the Ball Down McKenna's Throat".

Love if Freeman and Cloke can have same Partnership

big statement, yes more athletes play football now. But to say players were slower in the 70's is a big call.
Yeah I agree. Perception certainly seems to show players were slower, but when yr looking at old B&W footage everything looks slower. Would be interesting to see a comparison to some of the quicker guys from the 70's.

Not a big call at all

Just look at the Olympics, in every single field athletes get faster over time. Nowdays players train harder, train longer, eat better which is why they are clearly faster than players in the 70s.

Also nowadays players are picked more often on their athletic capabilities

Agreed about slower players (in general) in the '70's though McKenna had a pretty quick lead and always lead to the pockets giving Pricey the added complication of lateral displacement :)

Just quietly Ronny Wearmouth was NO slouch when it come to the running business either ;)

Agreed Dave Pricey had some sort of acceleration that could see him at full pace in a few steps and had range finders instead of eyes ;)

Kennedy always looked tired to me when he got the ball and as such his kicks would fall away. Hopefully a pre-season with a bigger tank and more strength through is core will fix this up.

Looked to be a very good kick in his u18 state games but he did end up slipping down the order.

Well in the Yearbook that came out they did say that Kennedy was not AFL Fit. He really has to work on his Fitness.

So Kennedy needs work on his Engine and Improvement will come with that

That's a ridiculous oversimplification.

Ben Kennedy is a technically good kick, capable of some excellent work like this.

When he miskicks them, it is generally because he was tired, or needed to settle and compose himself, and both of those things can be improved.

The same is true of Freeman, as well.

True but also when he was Running the ball was Swaying Side to Side or is that Normal?

It's a technique issue that he can work on. Sometimes it's a timing thing, which he can learn to do quicker, or do away with entirely.

I'd say with greater fitness and composure you're likely to see a significant enough improvement that the ball swing is probably not worth worrying about too much. Daisy always did it and he was an above average kick.

Not everyone is going to look like Scott Pendlebury when they're playing footy - People have different styles.

100% Agree. With Better Fitness will see a Big Improvement in his Kick % and be a able to run games out and not come on just as a Sub.

Ben Johnson was imo a poor kicker who became a good kick. But maybe i just misread him at the start of his career.

Drugs play a role in that. The Olympics particularly sprinting and athletics is not a clean sport. Look at Ben Johnson to Carl Lewis to Asafa Powell who all broke the record, drug related. Usain Bolt is the world record holder but even he has been under scrutiny and we may never find out if he ever took them because the testing is easy to manipulate with masting agents.

Dale Thomas failed to make the distance from 50m from his first set shot at goal. He turned out alright.
