The annoying thing about this is that he is exactly what we need in our midfield mix, ie breakaway speed from the contest.

Problem is he may have lost his break away speed and be subject to further injury. Clubs hit rate when assessing players for injury is mixed, massive stuff up re Stevie J, got Daisy right.

Line ball this one, you would hope both parties could give a little.
I'm baffled that we're struggling to reach a compromise.

We offered Kreuzer a 5-year deal worth $500-$600,000 a year, so clearly we have money in the bank.

If the club is at least partly responsible for Freeman's hamstring woes - which seems to be the predominant rumour floating around - then we should extend the olive branch and meet him halfway - $250,000 a year.

Would be nice if there was info on what we're offering him.

Herald Sun are reporting he's chasing $300,000 per year. What is he basing that on? Is that what Scharenburg is getting?
Might be more what are HS basing it on? I think they have a formula factoring in age of player, draft pick they were taken at and number of weeks left to go until trade week. Last of these factors pushes the $ up each week to help sell papers / get stories read online for ad & subscription revenue.:p

Yeah, because a quick update on Freeman is really going to bump up News Corp's revenues.

If we can get a late first round early second round pick, send him on his way.
If the HS report is correct in saying he's over his injuries and ready to hit a full pre-season, there's no way we should be entertaining a trade. If he gets through a pre-season, he will be playing senior footy for us next year, and what he offers is exactly what we need.

Club needs to work hard and sign him up - pay the extra if need be.

I want the pies to retain him. If it's $300k or so just get it done. We've had plenty of spuds on more over the years and this kid might just be worth the punt. We must have heaps of cap space given the delistings and more recently with PK retiring.

Get it done pies and stop friggin around

Hes worth good coin if hes fullyfit
Worth it as we have him.
All he is doing is fielding offers and looking after himself - and that is the footy world today. Not much different really to Danger or Treloar etc.
Just the way it is.
Please, he dosnt own us anything save for considering our best offer, because lets be brutal and honest here, if we did medicals and his hammys were shot wed say thanks and goodluck.
Thats how it is.
Business and pleasure mixed into one.

I always struggle to understand this point at the moment. In the rare chances he has been fit, hes never shown anything to me that even looks like star potential.

I think the basis of this thinking is, we drafted him in belief he is a top talent, and def an elite runner (with pace).
As weve invested already the thinking would be if hes fit we will benefit greatly as we have him already.
But like all things theres a gamble element.
We lost say on Stevie J years ago, but won on losing Daisey and likely win with not persuing Keuzer.
Time will judge.

I'm not into hating players, but after we have supported him through 2 years on constant injuries he wants out at the first chance? Unacceptable.
