It's not because of the opportunities he's missed rather about the lack of probable opportunities in a Collingwood midfield that may also include Treloar and Aish. He'd have a far better chance of regular playing time in the current St Kilda midfield and with that a greater bargaining power with contract negotiations.
He's a top 10 pick, he should start in a pocket or a flank like most do and work his way up. I highly doubt St Kilda are gonna throw him straight in the guts...

Since the Saints board are so keen on breaking bigfooty rules and quoting posts from here on their board I thought I'd bring the chat back here. I'll even give them the courtesy that their posts are now here jonathons11 sauce_head TheLonieRanger Joffaboy

They will get off with a slap of the wrist while you'll get carded. It's the way BigFooty works.

Freeman is under the cloud of repeated, slow-healing (chronic?) leg injuries and from the handful of times he played in the VFL or pre-season competition, the general opinion seemed to be that there were concerns about the quality of his kicking and his ability to rack up a big enough possession count. So what's the big deal about him leaving? It would be irresponsible of the Club to make a two-year, $600K commitment to an unproven player with such lingering doubts hanging over his head. It would also be irresponsible of Freeman to not grab the cash St.Kilda are offering. One more blown hammy could end his career. It might be his one and only chance for a big windfall.

By contrast, Aish had an outstanding first season, before second-year blues caught up with him this season (which is common and forgivable). If we can use a pick from St.Kilda to snare Aish, I reckon we are massive winners out of this. If it comes together, we can all just pretend that we originally drafted Scharenberg and Aish.

Now, lets go get Aish!

No one understands how dirty the club is on Freeman. He is leaving Collingwood on probably the worst terms of anyone since Nick Davis. And even then, he is leaving on worse terms as he has been a d1ck with his negotiations and has only left for money that he is not entitled to. At least Nick left to go home.

That's exactly what my post implies. I just don't have the same angst about that other posters do.

So what you're saying is that for the first time since 2010 the club and the supporters are seeing eye to eye? :p

A kid who hasn't played a senior game in two years at Collingwood and whose hamstrings are as resilient as fairy floss chooses your club because he (quite rightly) reckons he might actually be able to just hobble right into your senior side... I'm not sure it's time for popcorn just yet.

PS: The Michael Jackson GIF brings back happy memories for me. Much appreciated.:thumbsu:

Cool it, guys. Can't we understand wanting a change of scene after all those injuries?

I'll start melting if the trade ****s us, but until then, let's give the kid the benefit of the doubt, just like we would if one of St Kilda's kids wanted to join us.

Damien Barrett has said that Freeman and his family believe they have no faith in getting back on park and keeping him there.
On one hand, feel sorry for a kid who's body is failing him. On the other, feel sorry for the club that a senior spot has been clogged for 2 years. Ah well, that's called Draft Lotto eh?

Can you tell us more then?

Looks like him or his manager are trying to maintain some reputation and go to the "not sure where he'll fit into the team after going after Treloar" route, which is disappointing.

As soon as the news broke that Treloar had chosen us, Freeman apparently started following Treloar on both instagram and Twitter. If it were me and I felt someone was taking my spot, I wouldn't be following them like they were going to be a future teammate!

Money, money, money.

Disappointed.
