Not sure why we picked a guy with terrible kicking efficiency.

WEAKNESSES
He can lack a tiny bit of composure sometimes with his kicking, mostly because he is running so quickly. His kicking efficiency for the Dragons was 60.2 per cent, with most of the other top midfielders a touch higher. He still is a little inconsistent, and his good games for the Dragons were often followed with quieter ones, but that gap is closing.

Well I say they will work on that hope Improves that. But we need Linebreakers

There's no doubt our midfield needs some skill.

But we also need a midfielder with a burst of pace too, and looks like we got one of the better ones here.

I know we say this all the time but....I dont really remember a hell of a lot of players with suspect disposal who have actually got much better. History suggests, it doesnt work that way. Wysiwyg by now.

Course, if we actually employed a specialist skills coach for once...

Dane Swan, Alan Toovey and Ben Johnson all had poor kicks when they first started, and they got better.

Suddenly our midfield has grunt; Adams and Freeman (...and speed).
List is looking great.

Reminds me of Barham, albeit I've only seen the highlight footage on the coverage of draft.
But still excited nonetheless and hopefully he can make an impact next year.
Welcome to Collingwood mate!

Wasn't too keen a few days ago, but our midfield is a bit one paced so hes needed. Don't think Lennon is what we needed.

looks similar to Luke Shuey will be a gun. Did you see the smile on the bloke, his at the pies and his loving it.

Good luck to the boy.

Seems like a really good character with the way he speaks and his athletic traits are impressive. However, whilst that is all well and good, I shall judge him as a footballer firstly and lastly, yet he has some tools to work with his combination inside and outside game.

I trust in Hine.

The way he tucks the ball under his arm and just goes reminds me of Judd... No pressure Cathy

He's nothing like Dangerfield, other than being fast. Dangerfield is a midfielder who can go forward and dominate, similar to Riccuito before him. Freeman has been rubbish when played forward, he is shorter and isn't anywhere near as good overhead or on a lead. He also won't have the physical impact Dangerfield has due to the smaller body, and is not as inside. He's got talent, and players can work on certain weaknesses and improve on what they look like being a few years down the road from when they were drafted. But I don't see the need when you look at the profile of the rest of our younger midfield group.

I like how these clowns keep coming out with this crap about thinking you are better than Hine or Rendell when questioning a pick. No recruiter is perfect, and while I certainly don't know more than them, I also don't have to blindly applaud every single move they make as though they are infallible.
Thought I'd move this the Freeman thread. No need to discuss him in the Scharenberg thread.

All media commentators had Freeman top 6-12. It appears many of those same people along with a host of recruiters deemed Acres worth a far less draft pick. Freeman is a clearance mid who's 1cm shorter then Swanny. Oh, yeah let's go needs based. He's also 85 kgs. That isn't a small body.

What's funnier is morbid clowns like yourself that spriuk the high and mighty, I wouldn't have done this about a kid who hasn't even played a game of AFL yet. I know from your posts you post to the negative. Cheer up. The club has 2 opportunities a year to bring a player to the club and you want to dish a selection. That's just the way you are. I would have thought after bringing in 2 top 10 talents, the last thing on most peoples mind is 'I would have picked a player more suitable'. We need another key forward. Should we have taken McCarthy?

You don't think we need some speed in the middle? You don't think 2 quick mids can play together, even if one is very small.

I believe Dangerfield was quite outside with poor disposal when selected by the Crows. I'm happy for an avid TAC Cup watcher like SCPaige to comment on the comparisons between Freeman and Dangerfield. Obviously Dangerfield is 3/4 cm's taller. From the footage I saw, Freeman played plenty of centre square mid. He has elite speed and endurance and can find the footy. That's a pretty darn good start.

Lastly, to call Freeman rubbish when forward, can you let us all know what games you are referring too?

Know nothing about him.

Was hoping we'd take Lennon. I'll trust Hine and Bucks.

Lennon is really slow... Like worryingly slow for a guy who is expecting to play as a midfielder/HFF. All around as an athlete he is pretty poor.

Meanwhile, Freeman won the repeat sprints, was 2nd in the 20m sprint and Top 10 in the 3km and the beep test, so he has serious athletic prowess.
