The age of entitlement is well and truly upon us.

TBF - I have no idea what the club is offering him or Shazz but I'd love to know what they want and what's on offer.

Interesting times.

But youre entitled to draw wild conclusions...after all, its the age of entitlement!!!

What a joke seriously if this is true. Thank god for our 2014 draft picks who love the club and the jumper. Nathan I have a great idea for you....how about you get your body right. Get on the park and show the club what you got b4 asking for more cash.

Its hard to picture what his bargaining position would be. If theres a contract on the table offering standard money for a third year player you'd think hed be snapping it up. Weird

I saw an article last year regarding drafted players and what they were being paid, pretty sure it was around the $80k mark and salary is set by an EBA or similar.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, Freeman hasn't played an AFL game yet has he? So, what would be a fair increase in his salary this year - CPI maybe? Like most workplaces, anything extra should be performance based/measured. So surely a performance measure for Freeman would be to play a senior game maybe, at minimum?

Like I said, I don't know what we are offering him, I would hope it would be less then $150k and once again I think it should have performance measures so he can give something back to the club and be rewarded.

I'm not sure what you mean by wild conclusions.....I don't see anything too wild in what I've said, in fact it seems very modest IMO.

I'm happy to pay players what they deserve, but you tell me what we should be paying someone to play VFL football and hang out with the rehabilitation group.

looking for more money. will re-sign when he realises limited interest from other clubs.

Looking like a Danny Roach style draft bust. Hine has been pretty good, but this is looking like a real howler. Seduced by the kids athleticism. Thank goodness for Langdon.

Mate I was purely making an observation of the irony of you having a sense of entitlement to an opinion when you clearly admit you don't know the facts.

Collingwood know what freeman should bring to the table in coming years. They will decide in good time what his salary should be. It will be based on expected output. Freeman will either agree to those terms or try his luck elsewhere.

Its not just Shaz and Freeman. Aish is doing the same to Brisbane.

In fairness to them, Boyd and McCarthy had clubs approach them with stupid offers.

McCarthy quickly proved himself a future champion and Boyd was a lay down misere no 1 draft pick. Freeman was a speedy player with reasonable but not fantastic under 18 form. He has no right to be demanding anything from a club that has nurtured him through 2 years of hamstring problems. If we could get a pick in the top 20 in exchange or a half decent player, he is welcome to go to whatever club is willing to take a risk with his body.

This is one top 10 that Hine badly misread. The fact that we overlooked McCarthy is favour of the 2 players we drafted indicates that Hine is no better judge of talent than any of the other recruiters who chose other players with their early selections.

What is the McCarthy Offer he got from Freo?

We need to keep Freeman.

He killed it during the preseason time trials if people recall and his mix of endurance and speed makes him a tantalising midfield prospect.

The only question mark is will he get his speed back after missing two years with a hamstring.

I can see how Freeman wants out.

We have misdiagnosed his initial injury and botched his rehab time and time again. Its been 2 years and he is still having issues with his hamstring.

How do you know this? Are you privy to information or making an assumption.

Not being a smartarse, genuine question.
