WTF does "a tad earnest" mean?
Tad = a touch, part thereof, component of et al
Earnest = longer version of Ernie (as in Ernie and Bert)

What does WTF stand for? why the face?

Means he was responsible for Swan's suspension as he was the puritan behind the ridiculous player alcohol ban. I never did understand why Swan even agreed to it. So he's a kind of killjoy type?

No, he is the kind of premiership captain type. Think you will find that Maxy and Swan get along just fine.

Wowee did this thread go off topic. Interesting reading all the same though
What have you got to offer on Freeman? Some inside knowledge? A source? I am not too phased what befalls the man, because I have not entertained expectations of him. Compensation in the weakest draft of the decade will barely equate with the worth of our original pick 10.

Mosey into the Seedsman thread, find reams of Greek / Turkish / ... history talk, comparatively little Seed.

Amble into the Freeman thread, stumble on hypothesizing about Buckley's / Maxwell's degrees of earnestness / piss-sinking ability, not so much Freeman.

So if I want to find out about the true story about the Kennedy assassination, I might try heading to the Karnezis thread, I guess. Luck's a fortune. :thumbsu:

There's a lot of time to fill in when you finish outside the eight... :(

I'm not entirely convinced Freeman is in our plans anymore.

In his draft year, we were lacking a strong inside body with genuine break away speed and goal kicking sense, thus why i believe he was drafted.
However, this bloke came along the next year.

Crisp is almost everything i imagine the club hoped Freeman would be, plus he has added height, his stats and development this year is worthy of a top 10 pick and obviously comes with little to no future injury concerns.
With Treloar, Adams, Greenwood, De Goey and Crisp in the guts for years to come, i really can't see a need for an inside mid of Freemans caliber, the Dayne Beams trade may have unintentionally put an end to Freemans Collingwood career.

I do believe that us going after Aish is to replace Freeman in the team, as a young developing outside mid with class is something we currently lack.

I think Freeman, his managment and St Kilda are completely aware of his standings in the pecking order of our young mids, and should Freeman leave i won't blame him one bit, he will get many more opportunities in St Kildas developing midfield then he will in ours over the next few years.

It's funny how things go - if we'd only known, we could've picked a different type.
Then again, we might've ended up with a homesick McCarthy...

Disagree strongly. Freeman remains essentially untried but was a really highly rated youngster. I cannot believe we have given up on such talent. Crisp has been a revelation and looks a solid player for us, doubt he is an A grader of the future though. We are not so overflowing with talent that we are not interested is seeing what Freeman brings.

If Freeman can get his body right then I believe he could be exactly what my club needs.

Does anyone know how bad his hammies are? Rob Harvey had massive hammy issues at the beginning of his career but overcame them.

Reading through this thread it seems a three way deal involving Aish to you guys is on the cards. Eg your second & Freeman compensation to the Lions for Aish. Personally, I hope we keep our second rounder so ideally our third & a fringe player to the Lion.

Eg
Pies
Gain Aish
Lose Freeman & 2nd rounder

Saints
Gain Freeman
Lose 3rd rounder & fringe player

Lions
Gain 2nd & 3rd rounder & fringe player
Lose Aish

Of course the more simpler scenario is we get Freeman with our 2nd, which you pass onto the Lions.

Perhaps i didn't make it entirely clear that i believe Freeman is an immense talent, and according to the preseason vids so do his peers.

I just believe that the club was hoping to have Shazza and Freeman both with 2 seasons under their belt at this stage (Shazza slightly less) but as fate would have it, between them they have only managed under 10 games combined.

I view Shazza and Freeman almost in the same light as Pendles and Daisy, elite top 10 talents that would push us towards a flag, just as they did in 2010, and i believe having them both been injured the last 2 years has put us behind schedual quite severely, if however Aish was to come over too us, i believe he puts that schedual back on track towards a 2017 flag tilt as a top 10 talent with 2 seasons of AFL experience under his belt (although with its hiccups).

I wouldn't have the slightest clue what the clubs up to, but for me it comes down funds allocation, if i had a choice between giving Freeman his 250k he is asking and the Saints are offering or giving Aish 250k+ I would be giving it to Aish.
And I'm sure Freeman knows he would be getting paid a lot more at St Kilda.

If however Freeman decides to stay for unders that is brilliant, but if Treloar and Aish arrive over the summer, and Crisp, De Goey and Adams continue their fine form, on top of obviously Pendles, Greenwood, Sidey, Broomy and Swan, even if he dominates the VFL, he may have to wait until an injury occurs to make a break through into the seniors, and that obviously is never assured. At the Saints it could be a matter of weeks to crack their senior team.

Bargain for the Saints

I can see where you are coming from. Still I would love Aish and Treloar but would like to keep Freeman as well. Realistically Freeman after missing 2 seasons and with no senior experience anyway would be mainly finding his feet again in the VFL next year. Later down the track, if he lives up to expectation, you would expect him to go past Crisp, Greenwood and Broomhead so would hope he becomes a midfield lock.

Produce photos, articles or/and internet shit or it didn't happen.
He wrote a bit about it in his book. It was when he first came to Collingwood, sounded silly but reasonably minor

Robert Harvey never had the explosive power to the levels that freeman has. I'll always give a young player the benefit of the doubt, but for someone who's biggest asset is his elite speed, his hammies may not be able to take the toll of constant deceleration, change of direction and power that afl football requires. Kicking at full speed is going to be incredibly taxing

Try our best to keep him but if he wants to go I won't lose any sleep over it. Trade him for Sinclair or Lonie from the saints, look like promising small forwards that we are crying out for
I like this a lot.

I'd like to keep him to see what he becomes. Could he be a Darren Millane type wingman on the field with his body shape?

If a trade to st.kilda is on the cards, then I'd be happy with Sinclair or Lonie

who would be that fringe player? I'd be happy to trade Freeman for lonie or Sinclair if we couldn't keep him.

Saints won't trade Lonie or Sinclair. As good as they have been this year they don't strike me as long term players anyhow.

How about pick 5 and their second for freeman and pick 7?
Would put us in a stronger position in the Treloar trade. Pick 5 and our second rounder would surely be enough
