Nathan Fyfe is the next captain of the Fremantle Football Club, an outstanding player to lead the way for our club in the future.

The leadership group consists of the following four returning players
Nathan Fyfe
Aaron Sandilands
David Mundy
Lee Spurr

And two new inductees in Lachie Neale and Michael Walters.

The next generation has taken over and our future is starting to take shape.

Will be interesting to see if he signs now. I don't think he'll do it straight away just so it doesn't look like his signature was dependant on the captaincy. But hopefully he signs before the season starts, it'll give the club a massive confidence boost and it's the right thing to do.

Humble brag

"More of the next generation of Fremantle players need to be given the responsibility of leadership roles; Neale, Son Son are clear candidates.

I'll be very surprised if this isn't realised internally. I'd expect Fyfe to be captain next year and for big changes in the leadership group as a whole."

He won't sign until after the new collective bargaining agreement is finalised.

Sorry for the intrusion lads, especially when I've only been following this with him leaving via FA in mind.

But, does this mean the rumours about him being so widely disliked were unfounded? Was that Mundy's first season as captain also?

You would think they would have to be very, very confident of him staying now otherwise it wouldn't have been a great look for your mob.

Also, pumped for Walters... come a long way in the last couple of years.

That should be obvious mate :)

I'm more excited about the additions of Walters and Neale than F7.

Brilliant news!

Fyfe being captain was almost just formality - the additions of Walters and Neale are genuinely just as exciting

Congrats Fyfey! Was the obvious and rightful option for the position going into the 2017 season.

Stoked to see Neale and Walters in the leadership group. It's going to be an interesting year to see who decides to step up on the and off the field outside of this appointed group - it's looking likely we could have 1-2 new additions this time next year in replace of Sandilands / Mundy.

Mate. The west oz media are eaglescentric and treat the little brother with little respect. A lot of the rumors are picked straight out of the journos bums
