Pick 41.

Awesome, good luck Nathan. :):thumbsu:

He has tough competition for his spot though there against Jermaine O'Neal, Troy Murphy, Jeff Foster, Shawne Williams etc. but hopefully should get some minutes next season. :)

Hmm yeah I just read they have been discussing an O'Neal-TJ Ford swap, Bargnani has been a big let down so far as a no. 1 pick so could be possible Jawai could go over as a sweetener because O'Neal is all-star when fit, Ford is quality too but not in the same league...

Interesting...

But Pacers already have a lot of decent big men...

Has it already gone ahead?

Jawai a Pacer for all of 5 minutes... :D

Raptors will be good though if they can keep O'Neal fit with Bosh and losing Ford won't hurt them as Calderon basically outperformed him when Ford was out with his neck injury, Ford has as many question marks as O'Neal does so good trade by the Raptors if so...

Toronto want Jawai to play NBA next season :thumbsu:

..."After talking with Nathan's agent he has been told by Toronto that they want Nathan to play with the club in the NBA next season, which is fantastic news for Nathan. The full trade will take about a week to finalise, but it now looks highly probable that Nathan has achieved his dream and will be playing with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA."...

Would've love Jawai at the Pacers, not extremly happy with the trade either.

Ford is a great pick up and is nice and young too, Nesterovich is a stone cold dud, same with Baston(Who was with the Pacers last year?), and who knows what this Pick 17 Center is like.

I think the Pacers were just happy to get something for O'neal and to get rid of his contract

Having Jawai off the bench for Bosh and O'Neal would be a great complement. Sort of like Big Baby and/or Powe off the bench for the Celts.

It's obviously not the strongest league around, but there are quite a few quality players out here. Not that you would know by the sounds of it. It's not the complete gash comp. that it's described as.

Well done to Nathan, shame about the NBL team when he came back here, but he's really worked hard at deserves his chance at the highest level. A real potential bargain pick. Congrats :thumbsu: :)

I can see his role - defend, rebound, foul. He's on what a half million for a single season for a 2nd round pick or thereabouts which would be what, enough to save the Sydney Kings and be about 5 times what he would have been on in the NBL :thumbsu:

Stoked with this. Im coming round to the idea of having JON on the team, and if it bags us Jawai as well then its all gravy. Considering that Rasho and Baston have been traded and Garbo opted out - that leaves only Bargs, Jawai and Primoz Brezec as back up C's. If Jawai can impress at Olympic level, I can see him being the third string FC.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. :thumbsu:

Rumour going around that Pacers will buyout Nesterovic; possibility he re-signs with Toronto again after that. Would push Jawai further down the depth chart, but realistically, he's probably fighting a guy like Kris Humphries for minutes at the moment - which is not all that much. A young, developing big body to sit on the bench at the moment, that's all.

Guarding Bosh and O'Neal in practice everyday will do nothing but good for him though.

On ESPN, In the mock drafts leading in they kept saying he would remain in Australia for a couple of years to work on his game... does anyone know if this will remain the same?

I guess it comes down to what Toronto decides to do once everything is official.

No fracking way he will stay in Australia. He's not a Euro player maturing in Europe - that is completely different (not that you said that at all). If he stays here for a few years he'll be a worthless NBA talent, it won't happen.

I guess he might have people whispering in his ear telling him how great he can be and how much money he can make, but he surely can't be more than a low post banger ultimately. I've seen 20 games of former #5 pick Sheldon Williams who is everything Jawai is and a lot more... but Sheldon was a college star - and he was a major bust for the Hawks.

Most likely these guys have no idea nor do they really care about him - but this is what they had said. It was just a cut and paste job to fill out his draft.

33. Portland Trail Blazers (via Memphis)

Nathan Jawai | PF | Australia

Jawai is a big body who can create space in the low post. He may return to Australia for a few years to keep developing before the Blazers decide to bring him over.
34. Minnesota Timberwolves

Nathan Jawai | PF | Australia
Jawai is another big body who can create space in the low post. He may return to Australia for a few years to keep developing before the Wolves decide to bring him over.

Toronto has an association with the Colorado 14ers of the D-League, maybe he could develop there? That way he still has the chance of coming on to Toronto's roster at some stage.
