I think a lot of Melbourne supporters on this site are getting carried away with themselves.

They see all these future stars like Grimes, Scully and Trengove and think that every player should have that potential. Someone like Jones was never going to be a star. He dominated earlier than most draftees because of his mature body.

In a premership side, he'd still be a solid contributor off the bench. We definitely still have room for him.

Head over the ball and beating your man in a contest. This is what you're good at. Do not do too much. You are an asset when you play to your strengths, please do not try run or kick at goal unless it's from a set shot.

Thankyou:thumbsu:

Seriously, any of you so called Melbourne fans that bag Jones, have not got a clue. He is hard. I have a man crush on him.

Plays nothing like Chapman aside from the fact they are both very hard at it.

Chapman has excellent skills and is good overhead. Jones is a solid in and under player.
Jones is more than capable over-head, just never gets the opportunity to show his wares.

Thank you. When that game was on the line. Nat Jones and very few others put their bodies on the line t enable us to bring the four points home. He without a doubt one us the game in that last quarter. His ferocity in those stoppages were outstanding. He is still young so he will have his flaws but i say love his strengths.

No other player put there body on the line than him and if you do disagree watch the interview after the game with him and Colbie.

Doing well ATM, prefer him as the tackler rather than the tackled.

Going to be on The Sunday Footy Show now for those interested

some of you guys have to be kidding, probably the hardest working bloke at the club, one of few who worked hard when we were getting spanked, and i thought his attack on the ball and work rate was a standout against the dons, people who dont rate him no nothing about footy... its all good and well to see the mistakes he makes... but you watch a centre bounce contest were he is involved.. then watch the next passage of play... because he is always one of the first there

if more players worked as hard as him we would be set as a club

Jones' workrate is never in question, but genuine criticisms can be made about his game. Thnakfully he seems receptive enough to accept feedback from the coaching staff and make changes to the way he plays. This has probably stopped him receiving long stints at Casey in the past couple of seasons

On friday night he showed something i had either not seen or not noticed before, his handballing. Some of his handpasses in the first part of the game were lightening quick and if he continues to be the hard ball winner in the team, then that skill will rapidly elevate his importance to the side. I think his development in the remainder of this season will be one of the most interesting.

Have to agree 100% I have a lot of time for Jonesy. He never stops trying and makes a perfect partner for Beamer in the middle. Hard as nails and tough as they come, these two.

Absolutely, and he has visibly improved his game a lot over the past two seasons. I thought his footskills improved significantly last year and I reckon he's improved again this season across the board. He's still open to the odd brain-fade but he does far more good than bad. He's a very important member of the side at the moment.

Masterstroke to send him behind the ball.

Has more time on his hand and thinks his way through it, not making nearly as many mistakes. Also frees up McKenzie to go through the centre more, a far better centre clearance player.

Big tick for Bailey and West here.

That the video of Gawn throwing the club.

Accomodated nicely by Mees on twitter responding with '...and here comes the putter throw'.

Jones been in great form of late.

Was speaking to a bloke the other day who'd met Nath Jones,
couldnt speak more highly of him, which was pleasing to hear.

Nathan sounds like the kinda guy who still goes to bed at night pinching himself that he plays AFL footy. Treats it as the privledge it is. Loves every minute of it and is dirty with himself when he misses an opportunity.

See the same thing in jordie mckenzie

yep agree neither of them have any natural ability that really jumps out and hits you, its hard work that keeps them in the side and every side needs a couple of these blokes... imagine if jurrah or maric or petterd worked as hard as these blokes
