Hawk looked better, seeing him so close I could smell the players. lol

It felt like Johnson v Mooney 2008 again, a bit of comp between Vards and Hawk, on who would get it or who would be kicked to. Truth us, no sane team wouldn't put their best two on them if they play more games together.

I still feel the same for Blicavs. Already he's done enough for copaches to realise they can't ignore him, nor let him run free, and not many ruckmen can play on him thanks to his freakish athletiscm.

For all our injury woes, we have enough players that aren't easy to plan for, and I'm glad for once we have a bit of this.

2008 for the Grand Final. 2010 for not selecting the younger guys in the finals and playing half fit veterans. Agree the players are out there, they have to share the blame.
Just one of those days 2008 we couldn't take a trick,I supposes Stokes shouldn't have played but Bomber also shouldn't have left him on Hodge either, and didn't all those so called veterans salute on the last day the following year?
The Hawks played well and we didn't stop looking for scape goats we got rolled by a better side on the day.
2010 though is a different story.

There will be a few nervous hawks defenders with Vardy & Hawkins up an about
Vardy and Hawkins would be the biggest forward combo on the park this year.....we know Hawk is one of the best, if not heat forward 50 contested marks.....Vardy looks not to far behind.

Don't forget about Pods and Hmac too....who are equally impressive at contested marking. have a feeling we will play all four together with Blicavs being the counter as whilst he is playing second ruck he effectively is acting like a winger.

Will be bloody compelling viewing if we got them all on the park and start kicking long!

The thing about Vards too that makes him dangerous is when he marks on a half decent angle its pretty much a given.
Couple that with Hawkins in form & its certainly one of the most dangerous forward combos out there!!
When you look that they booted 6 between them last week in the first time they played together, Hawkins isnt in form & that was Vardys first seniors game back - once they really click...... wow....

Thats ideal. The sooner opposition rate him, its spreads the worry across all forwards. Has to be good for Hawk. Add player as good as Menzel as the medium tall and our forwardline id looking youthful and dangerous

Even though he is still playing at a very high level, he is trying to go for a high mark but not getting much elevation.

Worrying because last year, he was getting air born at will and it made him such a difficult forward to contend with while now, he's resorting to body contact and trying to mark using strength.

Its a bloody good thing then that the Hawk is as strong as they come!

Agree though, it would be great to see him jump into it a bit more....am not sure what the physical problems are.

I just do not expect Vardy will be a world beater this season. Perhaps a little pessimistic.

For me as long as he adds to the team - plays forward and takes a decent backman, rucks a little bit and provides anotehr option to the two ruckmen in the team - and takes a few decent grabs over the field - that will be good enough for me.

It is so rare to have a such an inexperienced player become a gun within a season. We can always hope I suppose.

Here's a call.
If Vardy does not get injured for the next 12 months he will hold us over a barrel for the next contract.
Adelaide would pay him a packet if he kicks 50 in his next 20 games.

Gut feeling. He actually doesn't feel like a geelong player to me.
Dont ask why. Well maybe that crap haircut.

Couldn't be further from the truth, he is like a tall James Kelly, loves a laugh, takes not much seriously outside footy and is just a knockabout lad who loves his team-mates.
LOVES the Cats, wont ever leave and feels like he owes the Cats plenty for continuing to hold the faith and help him through his injuries.

The only bit I agree with is the over the barrel for next contract, the rest I'm sorry is pure crap. Watching him on Saturday night he looked perfectly the part of an up and coming power Cat, and with the number 30 to boot!
And you know what, if he stays healthy and kicks that 50, good luck to him, he'd deserves to demand such money. And by that point with other veteran loses or concessions, I think we could afford to give it to him, could we not?

Wasn't long back that he, Menzel, Duncan, and a few of the first others of the new brigade all got together and said they wanted to be the next Bartels, Selwoods, Kellys, etc and stick together to win multiple premierships, no matter what it takes. I think it was an AFL article on the club website. Anyone else remember it?

Short answer?
Cam Mooney.

Long answer?
Cam got done for drink driving and travelled via train often during those 12 months (or 6, whatever) that he didn't have a licence.
I obviously ran into him often and usually had a good chat with him (he would normally instigate, probably saw it as if he had a chat with us then random passengers wouldnt ask for photo/autograph as much) and one topic one time was Vardy.

Aahhh, your Deep Throat revealed at last!
Good news though, SG. :D
There for a minute I thought both of you may have been extracting stuff from the fundament.

Adelaide? He is a Vic country boy, why would he leave a successful country Vic team to go to Adelaide?

Actually, I'll give you that.
Requesting the 30 as he did does mean something.

Geez, lucky I deleted figjam from my last post.
You guys would be going nuts.

Yep, but he has adelaide written all over him.

Dont get upset peeps. It's a gut call.
Opinions are like arseholes remember.

Is there an Adelaide connection?

I have to ask. Why Adelaide? Why does he have them written all over him. I mean it's not like they poach many of our players or anything.
He just plays like an adelaide forward.
There is something about him.

Athletic, muscular, runs. and ok, the bad hair cut :)
They need someone to go with walker.

And Adelaide never have a stay at home option. Walker and Vardy is perfect.

Again. Don't go getting upset!!!

I hope he kicks 150 next year and goes nowhere.
