Here we go again, complete and utter BS!

If for some reason your "rumour" is true then I will be very surprised and disappointed in the GFC. He isnt needed to come in, we have:

Ottens
Playfair
S.Johnson
Kingsley
Thurley
Haynes
Lonergan

All those are ahead of him with the last 3 all likely to get a recall before Nathan gets a call up!

Stop this crap!

I don't but it is as high as board level
With all due respect, I think you are full of it!

I dont think there is a chance in hell that Nathan will play. I think it would be a mistake to include him in the team at such an early stage in his development. It could end a career as he appears to be a very fragile young man, one embarassment could see him walk away from the game for good and that is the last thing the club would with such a huge talent at stake.

With saying that, i will be at the game eager to see his Debut if the club think he is ready, after all, if they play him, they would know better than anybody if the kid is ready or not.

Lets all pray that he gets an early touch and the crown errupts!

If he kicks a couple i think i would have to change my pants.

GO NATH! GO CATS! GO YEEEEEEEABLETT(S)

fair call. I sort of hope you are right even though I think it'd be stupid to play him.

Big surprise if it is actually true, thought Spencer and Blake were coming in, also Sando was mentioned as a possibility.

I am struggling to work atm with the thoughts of nathan playing tomorrow night running around in my head.

I just can't see how they could possibly play him. from what I can gather his form in the vfl has been rubbish so given that - he'd be getting promoted on the basis of his surname. that is exactly what they said they were not going to do to him. he was going to be nursed through the year and treated like every other player in the vfl. he was supposed to be given time to learn the traits. I don't think nathan himself would be comfortable making his debut tomorrow night given his form at present.

Big Friday night game on channel 9, and Geelong under the pump. There is no chance he will play.

His form doesnt warrant a game. His season will start next year. He hasnt delevoped yet but after another pre-season he should be at the same level as a first year player. Playing him this year will just make it harder for him.

so what changes were you thinking?? just spencer and blake for moons and kingy?? who would sando or perhaps rahils replace?? have tried to clear the memories of last friday night out of my brain, and have sort of forgotten who were the main $h!thouse players from last week...

also, are there any other injuries (if we don't already have enough!!) in the team that we are not aware of?? the past few weeks there seems to be a player each week that is out injured, usually an injury that sneaks under the guard of all of us on this forum. I am wondering if there will be one of those this week...

The last two threads are 100% correct - I watched the VFL on Saturday and he was ordinary and his form has not been much better in recent weeks, will be a huge call to play him but stranger things have happenned at our club (just struggling atm to think of one stranger than this though!)

If I could have imagined the worst possible scenario for the kid's debut, this would be pretty close.

No offence jac,but I think someone is yanking your chain.Spencer and Lonergan would be ahead of Nathan.
O.K lets cut to the chase here. I was with a friend who was talking to a prominent Geelong board member (my mate also has connections at Moddewarre) and the topic got on to Nathan and the Board member said he is playing on Friday night. That is what I heard. Leave me alone.

All of you :( ;)

I agree with that he shouldn't play, but what is the point of listing all those forwards? I mean, if he was to come Id have thought it would be down back where he has spent the majority of his time in the VFL and where we are short at the moment...

Apart from all of the above, which I mostly agree with, can I spin it the other way for a second. All previous plans and statements would have assumed a list of reasonable size, they would not have been willing to drop players for his promotion but the lack of available players takes the pressure of all. Do we really believe if another 4-6 went down with injuries that they wouldnt play him because of this pre-stated approach.
So, now, if its handled correctly, everyone would accept that GFC have been backed into a corner with the injuries, they would acknowledge that he is underprepared, NA23 could be less pressured because he is not coming in for himself or with any fantastic form in the V's that hed be expected to reproduce, its more about him helping out the club. It could be a chance to break the ice and get the dreaded debut out of the way

People around the club would not expect him to perform to a high level given his form, but the media can be a nasty bunch and if he puts itn a shocker first up, can you imagine the attention he will get from the Media? It would be Saturdays back page 'Son of god not up to big league'. I could just see that on the back page of The Hun. Bast@rds.

Based on my observations of the kid and from what GAJ said about him in his interview with the 'Womens Weekly' (yes i purchased it, but it was solely for the GAJ article). GAJ states that he does take things to heart and is not as emotionally stable as he is. If the media did their usual thing and got on his back strait away, it might be enough for him to walk away from the game totally... After all the work the GFC have done to get him on the list, it could be a huge mistake, espicially considering that he would more than likely play in the back line as a third tall. Could you imagine what Sammy Hamill would do to him in his first game? I dont think Nathan is up to the physical presence of such a large expirenced and smart footballer.

I would love to see him make his Debut, however i think it would be best done by naming him as an emergency and making him a late inclusion for an interstate trip. A trip to Subiaco, Gabba or even AAMI would be the perfect time to unleast the next YEEEABLETT!.

It is hard place that Geelong are left in, if they did the above, they would be seen to be 'playing favourites' which may not go down well with other players. GFC are faced with a really tough one.

After all this, i will respect what ever decision the club makes, they are fully aware of what Nathan's current situation is and will make the right decision!

What does everyone else think? Am i on the right track or talking $h!t?
