Found Faith's phantom draft of 2009, when he had 'inside information'. Not bad, first 8 were spot on (selections, not his comments!). Where are you now when we need you son?

Faith's top 17 (Inside Source)....

Final List of priority and 1st round: (Where i think players will end up, not where i rate them):

1Melb: Scully; (Clearly 2nd best player, not as good as Treng, but still brilliant. More marketable so will go 1.)

2Melb: Trengrove; (The best player in my opinion, has everything, best player to come out of SA since Pavlich. Future captain and AA Should be pick 1);

3Rich:Martin; (Rich are favoured to get Martin here, but Morabitto and Cunnington are better prospects.)

4Freo:Morabitto: (Queries on his work rate. 3rd best player, but Rich maybe scared off and go for safe option, freo will snap him up. The next Headland. Would go 1 if his work rate was better.)

5NM:Cunnington (Clearly the best 5 players. NM want him. Rated higher than Martin).

6.Syd:Rohan (Gun attributes but doesnt get involved enough. Whispers he may slip further down, but shouldnt.)

7.WC:Sheppard (I hope crows get him at 13. One of my favourite players. Reminds me of a young version of Vince.)

8.PA: Butcher (too big a talent not too get here and PA need someone like this, GUN Forward);

9.PA: Melksham (Have been linked heavily to him recently, complements their midf well);

10.Ess: Lucas (They have been heavily linked to him recently, i dont rate him that highly);

11.Melb: Daniel Talia (Looks like a very good forward and defensive prospect);

12.Carl: Black (Shot up recently, Mixture of Danger/Otten/Burton. Carlton want Talia but i think Melb will take him);

13.Adel: JMP (inside info. They want him)...Id rather have Sheppard.);

14.Syd: Koby Stevens (Love this kid. Leader, in and outside player. Exactly what Sydn need);

15.WB: Moore (very good prospect, would fit in very well at the bulldogs);

16.PA: Tapscott (PA would like this guy at this pick);

17.Geel: Carlisle (Huge potential, can play KB or KF).
sorry who is JMP ?

I'm actually looking forward to this year's draft. We have two obvious needs, and there should be a couple of KPD's and a couple of outside mids available at our pick. Interesting to see what we do.
Yeah I'm looking forward to this year's draft because our first pick isn't in the bloody 60's.

Exactly - the 10-14 slide was part of the cost for Cheney and Lowden. If 10 becomes a superstar, 14 just an ordinary player, you still need to look at the overall package which included Lowden and Cheney. If Cheney becomes a best 22 and Lowden a star for example, then the overall trade is probably balanced
The test is whether 14 and 35 finish up better than 10 and 47.

We could have had Lowden and Cheney with either combination.

We chose the former because we thought it would be better for the club.

Just the there seems a wider range of scenarios than usual when looking at the various phantom drafts.
Doesn't that make trading 10 to 14 a mistake? Geelong's thinking might be that teams are so varied this year in their first round thinking that they might get another Selwood steal.

The logic people have been using is that the first round is pretty much set in concrete, everyone knows who everyone else is taking, so we'll still get our 10th ranked guy at 14.

How can you disagree?

This wasn't a 3 way trade between 2 clubs. We made two different trades completely separate from each other.

We made the trade with Hawthorn before we made the trade with Geelong.

There was time in between the trades to change our mind and say no to Geelong.

Our trade with Geelong (from their perspective) was not contingent on our trade with Hawthorn.

There was absolutely nothing stopping us from doing the Hawthorn trade and keeping 10 and 47.
