Walsh said in an early press conference that we will play a game style that suits our strengths...

I have no doubt he wants a Tippett style key forward with our first pick.. Best way to make an ordinary kicking team more efficient by being able to drop it long and high on a big fellas head..

Mckenzie or Wright pick 14...
Best Kpd at 35

Too right. We recruited him for this ...

when he tried that for us he ended up like this ...

(cant get images inserted)
Also recruited him for his skills on a paddle board ...

He's also gone on to be one of the most heavily tagged players......
Agree, but I'm not talking about the hacked kick out of the pack. Mentioned this in the who will improve the most...Danger had the most inside 50s with over 100, I would like to see a stat with how many of those I50's were effective. It is a part of his game that many are now seeing as something he needs to work on hard during the preseason. He starts hitting targets again by foot more consistently when he is in the clear then he can be deemed elite and worth the massive pay packet hopefully he'll sign for next year.

The thing that struck me was him playing so well across half-back ... maybe a McLeod type role is what he should be striving for?
YES! Rotate him HBF and HFF with occasional runs in the middle. We need to blood the Crouch's and Kedge, Smith and Lyons into the middle and make sure Danger get's through the year without looking like a cripple by round 18.

I tend to agree to a degree. People are focusing on our immediate needs (key defender and quick outside player) but draftees barely play in their first year and they are unlikely to be impact players next year.

You draft for needs in the long run. In 2016 we are in desperate need of a contested marking forward. I just think McKenzie might be a strong chance for us at 14. Only one year of footy but already arguably the best contested mark in the draft. There is a LOT there to work with and he can pinch hit in the ruck. Just about the prototype for the key forward that we need.

Basically, we are looking for Tippett replacement because Podsiadly will not be around for ever. Also ties in with the belief that the player we are after will be there at 14. In recent years we have been somewhat left field with our selection. We either get the slider, or we "reach" and pick the player we love and others consider to be someone that should have been picked later.

I am not going to question our recruiting team regardless of who they pick. They have a good track record recently.

No Carl, wait until he is out of position and double teamed then bomb it on his head.
I feel we've actually developed this game plan a little over the past year or so. Not only do we bomb it long to Betts but we also like to wait until they've got a man filling the hole and hit him lace out.

Been looking some more into Goddard. We absolutely must take him if he is available at our pick. He is like Talia with rebound, but not good below knees. Reckon he will be ready in 2-3years and highly doubt he will fail as an AFL player. Get it done Noble.

It's embarrassing how often this happened and by players not under immediate pressure too. I mean seriously, I could understand it if they deliberately grub breed it along the ground 50m, but to lob it in the air to the shortest man on the ground...

All the phantoms seem convinced he's heading to GWS at 6 or 7, and seeing as we moved out of the 10 for someone we think will be there, its unlikely he's our target. But if hes there at 14 would take in a heartbeat, has history as a forward which is a good card to have up your sleeve as a defended, reckon talia and hurley (ess) were the same. They turned out alright ;)

Even if they put the ball out in front or to the side where he might have a chance if it bounces...We had a ton of inside 50's this past season and we butchered a large percentage of them.

This has to be high on our list of things to change. It also means drafting kids who have field vision and are excellent kicks. No use picking someone and trying to improve kicking skills, because we have shown in the past we can't.

So more like Otten with rebound then?

Would it be correct to say the 4 best available KPD's, in order, are Lever, Durdin, Goddard and Marchbank?

And...would it be assumed they'd all be gone by pick 20?

Looks like they will all be gone by 20.

Apart from Lever there doesn't seem to be a clearly established ranking of the other 3. All different types.

All look very good prospects and hard so see any of them being busts

Besides McKernan and Joyce.
