Leg speed and ball use is surely a bigger priority then a project player.
If I were Walsh I would be building towards 2017.. Big guys take longer...

No different from Rendell who was building towards 2014.. And who knows if we didn't lose the players we did..

I genuinely think we are good enough next year though.
There arent too many teams that can boast a better spine nor midfield than us.

And that is the million dollar question.. Does Walsh think we are in a premiership window ? Yes, go for pace.. No, get a key position player ..

Personally I think we are 2 to 3 years away.. Hence why I'd go key forward and then key defender

Yes over last few years done reasonably ok but McKernan and Joyce especially hard to fathom.
Also was perplexed at Knight selection when wanted another tall or ruck or more so a outside runner with speed , especially after taking BOB with first pick.
Knight is no slouch - and would currently have the 3rd biggest engine on the list. Would not underestimate what he brings

Walker, Jenkins, Podsiadly.
Jacobs, Lowden, Osbourne.
Talia, Hartigan, Siggins.
These are the only players that are 193cm or taller on our list.
We need to bring in players with leg speed and ball use but I feel that key position at both ends is just as much of a need. Especially considering they take longer to develop and are harder to predict at the age of 18.

So you get the most pressing needs at 1 and 2. Ie. Ahern and Rainbow
Then the development players Ramsay and Read with the next two.

All of Walker Jenkns Jacobs Lowden Osborne Talia Hartigan and Siggins should have 8 years plus left at AFL level.

Talia only fell a couple of picks, Leaver would have to fall about 10 odd picks to get to us pretty much wouldn't he?
Yes but talia had a very solid draft year. Lever hasn't played a game all year coming off a knee reco which may scare a few clubs. Take Joel Selwood - very highly rated but fell to 7 after queries over a dodgy knee.

I suspect we would have taken Mitch Harvey with the pick we used on Knight is Port hadn't already taken him the pick before. There was a reason Port traded up to the pick directly before us.

Cal Twomey:

"Daniel Howe and Bailey Dale have been linked to the Crows as their later selections, and maybe ruckman Marc Pittonet. "

"Tristan, the talk about Maynard to the Crows has been very strong for some time. Of course, he was nearly eligible as a father-son selection there. However, I see it being one of the talls or a slider as more likely for the Crows, despite their interest in Maynard. "

"Caleb Daniel's best chance will be as a rookie."

"Lots of talk about Cockatoo to join West Coast at pick 11, but I am not certain about that. A few clubs interested thereafter."

"I haven't heard any club specifically linked to Panos."

"Michael, reckon Durdin would be considered by the Cats at pick 10 and Richmond at 13, but is a reasonable shot to get to Adelaide;'s pick 14. There will definitely be a tall available and probably a couple of other sliders too. "

Howe is a mobile tall is strong overhead and was equal second in the kicking test at the combine. 28/30

From his highlights i've seen could be a bit of a utility able to play back, fwd and maybe in middle.

Shaping up to be a pretty interesting first round. You've got Petracca, Brayshaw and McMartin seemingly locked in as the first 3 selections, as well as Moore to Collingwood at #9. Those 4 are you'd think the only guarantees not to slip out to us at #14 (thankfully none of them are tall defenders or outside midfielders) - so with the remaining 9 picks before we come into the draft it sounds like there are maybe 14 players who could possibly be in the mix and could go in any order.

KPD: Lever, Goddard, Durdin, Marchbank
KPF/Ruck: Wright
Mid: Laverde, De Goey, Pickett, Weller, Duggan, Ahern, Cockatoo, Menadue, Ellis
Utility: Langford

Of that list Goddard, Durdin, Marchbank, Cockatoo, Weller & Duggan seem to be the most attractive options likely to still be around once GWS, Collingwood, GC, Geelong, West Coast, Richmond & Freo have had their pick (Lever would be ideal but it seems unlikely he'll slide past 10). Would be happy with any of them to be honest from what I've seen and read of them, I guess this is what Noble meant when he said it was a pretty even draft in terms of quality in that mid-late first round range.
