Only a rumour right now, but this would be incredible:

Sources: Jordan to grace 'NBA 2K11' cover

Will Michael Jordan's latest comeback be in "NBA 2K11"?While rumors pegged LeBron James, Derrick Rose and even Tyreke Evans as favorites to appear on the cover of "NBA 2K11," multiple sources have told ESPN that the company has gone in a completely different direction, signing basketball legend Michael Jordan as its new spokesman.

This will be the first time that a former player will appear on the front of the box for 2K, and with Jordan taking over majority ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats, it will also be the first time that a team owner will endorse the popular franchise.

But the real question is, what value -- beyond obvious name and iconic image recognition -- will Jordan bring to the game? In the era of Kobe and King James, are gamers still yearning to "Be Like Mike"?

The designers at 2K must think so. In addition to acting as cover model for "NBA 2K11," the speculation is that Jordan will also be digitized into a playable character. This means gamers will become the virtual MJ in hopes of reliving some of his trademark moments.

There's more. I've even heard whispers that 2K has been in negotiations with several players (both teammates and opponents) from the Jordan era to appear in "2K11" to help gamers and history buffs accurately recreate the heated competition between the classic Bulls and rivals like the Celtics, Knicks and Cavaliers. But since 2K needs to ink all former players to individual contracts, it's still up in the air whom the company will be able to sign in time to appear in the game.

But if this means we finally get a virtual Craig Ehlo to shoot over as we relive Jordan's famous jumper that doomed the Cavs, or maybe even a cyber Larry Bird describing MJ's game as "God disguised as Michael Jordan" after Jordan dropped 63 against the Celtics, then I'm all for it.

Hopefully more will be made clear once 2K Sports officially unveils the game to the media during the E3 video game convention in June.

It'd be great to have a playable MJ again, I've made a few MJ CAPs before but it doesn't feel right without the proper stats and stuff.

Just an idea but an NBA 2k game where you can play in 1995 or something (like legends of wrestling) would be amaaazzing.

I hope they upgraded My Player mode and fixed the many glitches it has.

need to fix the online mode, it was so shit :/
With all EA Sport games you can play anyone 1 on 1 and play straight away, anywhere anytime.

But with 2K you have to join a bloody league or some shit and could never play with anyone as it was horrid to set up a match.

unless you invite a friend...

having the classic players would be awesome, even only if they had a couple of the teams over the past 20 years eg. bulls vs jazz, celts vs lakers of the 80s

btw if theyre gonna have a classic player in the game/on the cover, they should make it greg ostertag :p

Having played Live 10 for the first time a couple of days ago, I will never go back. If that was supposed to be the game that draws people back, then wow, they failed. So chunky, impossible to play D. Can dunk off 1 step from the FT line. Just typical stupid shit.

But, they better improve My Player for 2k. Needs more depth, like negotiatin contract, a built in Draft Combine for everyone, difficulty level, etc.

I'll only play Live or "Elite" as they are calling it now for the FIBA teams, the rest of the game enrages me greatly.

I don't understand how people thought that Live 10 was better than 2k10 even with all the glitches it had at the beginning which were fixed.

Check out the GameFAQS Xbox 360 NBA Live 10 board and user by the name of ReggieBush09, the crap he comes up with to slag 2k10 and praise Live 10 is hilarious.

Michael Jordan said:
"It's an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11," Jordan said in a statement. "I have no doubt that NBA 2K11 will be a big hit with gamers and basketball fans alike. I'm looking forward to getting back out onto the court, virtually. Let's hope they get my dunk from the foul line right."

I lol'd.

Can just imagine MJ ripping 2k11 because they didn't create him right.

Great, now me and my mates are going to have to Brazillian Jujitsu eachother every time we play this in the bong shed... It would be nice if they made a pre-94 Bulls team (Cartwright, Grant, Pippen, Paxon co.) and a post-95 (Longley, Rodman, Pippen, Harper co.) team. That would squash any fights between us. :D

I think if they improve My Player to be a deep, rewarding game mode, it'd be incredible. However, what I'd like to see is the ability to import 2K10 Players into 2K11. It just feels like I've spent far too much time on 2K10 making my player into a weapon to have to start anew in 2K11.
