cheers.

2k not doing any legitimate roster updates?

mine is weird, got the game at the end of march and must have updated some rosters automatically. wallace is in portland, the polish gorilla in charlotte but melo still in denver and perkins still in beantown.

Just fantasy drafted a few days ago and kicking Association with the Knickerbockers - struggling at the moment at 1-4.
Have bene trading like mad to try and upgrade starters and getting there slowly, cap room now a big issue if i want to make any major improvement without trading a star.
My roster off the top of my head:

PG - D-Will, Andre Miller
SG - Shan Brown, Wes Matthews, Redick
SF - Ariza, (cant remember his back-up)
PF - X-Bo, Haslam, Collinson
C - Bogut, Dalembert

What are peeps thoughts on my roster and what do i need to improve.

Depends on your type of play but I don't really go for the star PG. I just use them to pass and not shoot. My main scoring comes from either SG/SF mid range or PF/C down in the Post.

If you play similar then drade D-Will/Brown for a top grade SF. Start Wes at SG and Miller at PG with a young backup like our very own Patty Mills.

PG - Miller, Young PG
SG - Wes Matthews, Redick
SF - Some topline Player
PF - X-Bo, Haslam, Collinson
C: Bogut, Dalembert

Other than that I think it is a fairly strong line up.

Also I find that if I don't use a position to score I'll go a defensive player. Also Rebounding is huge in this game so I make sure my bigs are great rebounders.

I was playing with Oden a while back and he absolutely killed it for me, his rebounding was outrageous.
I play pretty much the same style as you mentioned so am thinkign trading D-Will wouldn't be such a bad idea. I'm very much a pick and pop / pick and roll type player and don't get into the post game with the big fellas much. Namely cos Bogut is shit at it.

I drafted D-Will first cos i had been pretty much been playing with OKC before that so everything went through Durant so i wanted to try something new. Unfortunately D-Will has become my main scorer which is not what i want, i'm gettign 10-12 from Ariza and maybe 8-10 from Brown but nothing from the big bar blocked shots and boards.

Might do the D-Will deal and see how hard it is to get a Wade or Melo type into my squad.

Well if you can work on your post game it works great in you being able to 1. Shoot high % 2. Kick out to open players when they double team down low (and they will) 3. Give you extra scoring options on top of the SG/SF.

Pick and rolls should work well with Miller as he isn't an outside scorer and is a very good passer. If you go for a young back up PG scout them and see what their pass/hands ratings are because my backup PGs never score so they need to be able to pass.

I have played a lot of 2k11 association mode and I have made some observations on what players to get. It's not about getting the best overall players as overalls can be deceiving. The best way to go is to try and get guys that fit your play-style and to make sure you have team balance. These are who I think are the best when building depth on 2k11:
Mainly scorers because (I know when I play) if you're at all decent at 2k you would be able to defend on the perimetre with whoever you play with so my bench usually involves scoring firepower.

PG: Daniel Gibson // Cleveland Cavaliers // Only rated 61 overall but is a very handy back-up or third string PG. Amazing range and 3pt shooting ability, good-passer and fairly good handles. If you can get his release right he is always good for a couple 3's of designed plays and spot ups.

SG: Kalenna Azubuike // Free Agents // Make use of the free-agents, you can get some decent bench players there for nothing. Azubuike is a a knock-down shooter, has good range and is very athletic - good for oops, throws down dunks if you use him right.

SF: Kyle Korver // Chicago Bulls // Very well known as a great bench player. Amazing range and shooting ability. Not a great defender but you can make up for that if you are a good player.

C: DeAndre Jordan: // Los Angeles Clippers // Again not great overall but I think he is the best pack-up Centre in the game and he is very cheap. Athletic, he dunks all the time. Great in the pick and roll and blocks shots like a beast.

Anyone else got other good suggestions?

C: Joel Prizbilla (or however you spell his name) is handy. But need to have him starting or 6th man otherwise he gets angry and asks for a trade. Even though he is old if he is kept happy is a really good defender.

Azubuike and Korver I've added to my squad plenty of times when playing. Great when I have a beast down low and get double teamed. Pass out to the shooters for easy 3s.

Patty Mills works well to although I have to change his shot as it shits me to tears. His release is so slow.

I re-drafted the other week cos i was really struggling with my side, just didn't suit my playing style at all. This is the 5 i ended up with.

PG - Moe Williams
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Melo
PF - Z-Bo
C - Haywood

Off the bench i have a fair bit of scoring and some really solid contributors that suit my game: Barrea, Pryzbilla, Bass, Reddick and a few others that escape me cos they don't get much time.
As you can see by the way i have drafted i don't get a lot of points in the paint but i have tried my very hardest to get good rebounders to compliment my scoring threats.

Second year of an LA Clippers association.

PG Jrue Holiday/ Kemba Walker
SG Demar Derozan / Aaron Affalao
SF Danny Granger/ Dorell Wright
PF Blake Griffin / Andray Blatche
C Joakim Noah / DeAndre Jordan

Still trying to get the team balance right but I'm liking my mix. I play an up tempo game with a pretty simple inside-outside half court game.

Decided to start a new association game yesterday, i am the Lakers, did a fantasy draft and after picking Stoudemire with my first pick i couldnt decide and let the computer do it for me and i was pleasantly surprised. I really like the starters.

PG Mike Bibby/D.J.Augustin
SG Vince Carter/Azubuike
SF Paul Pierce/Franciso Garcia
PF Stoudemire/Ibaka
C Spencer Hawes/E Curry

Paul's shooting is very hard to get used to.

+ 1 on that, I'm struggling with him - about 35% from the field and 9ppg; but I do also have a ridiculously balanced offense with PP, Ray, KG, Shaq (around 28mpg each) and Rondo, and the super-subs of JJ Redick, Dorell Wright, Jeff Green, Andray Blatche (around 20mpg each)... So I'm surviving without utilising PP properly...

Is it strange that we haven't heard anything about NBA 2K12 yet? This time last year I'm pretty sure we would have already been told that MJ was going to grace the cover, extra modes etc.

If you have noticed his shooting outside the 3 point line is different to when he is at medium range, very odd. Yeah i have Amare and Vince who score heavily and bench players who can hit the 3 with ease.

Still like the MP mode a bit better tho.

Had to start again when i accidentally turn the xbox off while it was saving  silly me. Got drafted to the Hawks, they run alot of plays through Smith and Johnson, but as soon as Crawford gets the ball he refuses to pass and is shooting at about 30% almost lost heaps of games because he is the only person shooting at the start.

I have 2 games that really stand out both with Jamal Crawford shooting terrible in the 1st quarter. The 1st was against The Mavs, about 14 points down at the start of the 2nd and they keep piling on the points got to about 18 in front then i decide to start shooting myself instead of passing. In the last down by 6 with 1 minute left im on 36 points and Johnson goes to town hitting 2 3 points after Dirk misses down the other end goes into overtime and we win finish with 44 points.

The second was against the Heat after being down at 20 at one stage in the 2nd. Come back and win the game by 10, finish with 53 points.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. This thread was started on May 27 last year and the game was released October 5 - 2K12's release date is mean't to be October 4. All we've got is Kobe playing a demo on Playstation Move and some crappy trailer.

anyone played my player long enough to have skills decay? i simmed most of my 2nd season because i kept gettin put on rubbish teams (5 trades i think haha) im about 70 games into the 3rd season and my med, 3pt, FT, low post, layup and dunk were maxed but now they arent and im pretty sure they all just dropped 1.

I got the magic touch when it comes to NBA games. From rookie Spencer Hawes hitting three balls, to lighting it up with Jodie Meeks dropping 30+. In 07 I had a couple of months run where Bruce Bowen was averaging 20+, taking people off the dribble. Had a game last night where Anthony Morrow shot 70% from deep, shit was crazy. Pump-fake, dribble drive step back out to three and drop it in their face.

Tasty. :D

And as far as I know the trailer was just made up of spliced 2K11 game footage. Was just some NBA Finals special montage.

Another to add the list of frustrating shooters - Wesley Matthews' release is as slow as a wet week. :(
