Willis Reed, the New York Knicks basketball star, was arrested last night in an automobile incident involving an off‐duty patrolman. Mr. Reed was charged with reckless endangerment, menacing, harassment and inipersonating a police officer.
According to the Police, the incident occurred around the corner from the 30‐year‐ord athlete's home at 61‐35 98th Street Rego Park, Queens. ‐They said that a car driven by the off‐duty patrolman, Joseph Guarino, was cut off by another car on 98th Street north of 62d Drive. The patrolman stopped the other car, the police said, identified himself and was told by the other driver, who flashed a miniature patrolman's shield, “I'm a cop, too.”
The driver, later identified as Mr. Reed, was arrested and taken to the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills. He vies later, released for a hearing Aug. 3.
I was never up?
I know I wanted Melo with my arrested pick. Needed depth at the SF but couldn't switch up my categories to suit.Final Team including revised categories:
PG: Walt Frazier (5x all-star)
SG: Jerry West (League Leader)
SF: Dr J (3 teams)
PF: Garnett (>39yrs old)
C: Abdul Jabbar (UCLA)
Bench:
PG: Kyrie Irving (<#10)
SG: George Gervin (>#40)
SF: Paul Pierce (3pt winner)
PF: Antetokounmpo (1 team)
C: Artis Gilmore (HOF)
Wing Carmelo Anthony (Arrested)
Wing Jimmy Butler (Non-MVP)
Possibly lack real quality at PG, but the ballhandling depth is there with Frazier, West, Irving, Butler and even Antetokounmpo all genuinely able to intiate the offence and handle the ball. In the modern NBA, I don't have enough 3 point shooting, but that's probably more a function of having predominantly older players in my backcourt when the 3 point shot was valued less. I'm relying Frazier and West (and Gervin to an extent although his strength was more getting to the basket) to be able to shoot the 3 ball now that it's much more of a focus in the game. They were very good / elite shooters in their day.
The real strength of my team is the number of genuine 2 way players. Frazier, West, Garnett, Abdul-Jabbar, Antetokounmpo, Gilmore and Butler are all great at both ends. Kyrie's defence this year is what got him the nod over others at his position. So I have very few poor defenders - there are no holes for the opposition to attack.
I really like my squad, but of course I would - I picked it based on my preferences. I'd be keen to see what others think.
nufan is up next.

Someone just had to pick Simmons, didn't they.Mookie Blaylock (Arrested)
