Top effort and pretty bang on really apart from John Wall in third for no real reason.

That's what illuminati want you to think, jod

Ive figured out how this system doesnt work. In a poor low scoring game between say the Clippers and the Rockets. It finished 80-84 to the Clippers. Nobody plays well, nobody shoots well, it's just one of those grind out games. Paul is the best of a bad bunch. Shoots 6-18, and 4-5 from the line, scores 16 points and has 7 assists. But the Clippers win and he is the best of an average bunch.

Meanwhile in OKC the Thunder win a 122-108 barnstormer against the Mavericks. Westbrook shoots 16-22, 8-10 from the line, four of his 16 makes are three pointers for a total of 44 points. He also has 11 rebounds and 12 assists.

Paul and Westbrook receive the same 3 points towards MVP honours. That makes no sense.

So Paul has 16 and 7 and shoots poorly. Westbrook goes beat mode and has 44, 11 and 12 and shoots really well yet they both get three points?

So... basically like the AFL Brownlow.

You can flip that though and say why should Westbrook miss out just because he isnt healthy.

It's not like the AFL when you miss two weeks, you only miss two games and the most you can be behind is 6 points if the player you are chasing is BOG both rounds.

In the NBA if you miss two weeks, you could potentially miss 10 or so games. That can be a 30 point headstart.

From memory the last person to win the MVP and miss more then 7 games was Allen Iverson so I think the systems OK for NBA too..although I doubt it'll happen anytime soon

Yeah it promotes playing more games. So in this system, if say Westbrook averaged 30, 8 and 10 over 65 games but say Curry averaged 22, 4 and 9 over 82 games. He would win because he has 17 more games with a chance to score 51 more votes.

I like how the NBA MVP is voted on, even if they have in the past shown voter fatigue and given it to other players over the real MVP.
