I just got NBA Live 2004 and i would have to say that it is the best game ive played. It is so realistic and the commentary on it is the best ive heard. I think the gameplay factor and the endless options are also great. Im in a season with the Orlando Magic at the moment and although i had a tough start i am now back to 4-5 on a desteny season.

Does anyone else have the game.

2004 is a definite improvement. The new Dynasty Mode is brilliant, and the player movements are far more realistic (ie. players run into each other, playing fall over, players get hit by legit screens etc.)

Loving the game, although a few of the positional qualifications for the players are weird. Pau Gasol at C and ET Cassell at SG.

yeah, i've got live 2004 on pc. the last version i hac was live 200 so of course it's an impovement in my eyes. A few minor issues (fast breaking/jump step/bumping off players/menu navigation/the dunking sounds), but at least there are sliders now to adjust the game how you'd like.

the best thing about is that it can be pretty challenging - i'm 11-12 on the season & am finally starting to chalk up some back to back wins.

Im in Dynasty mode with Orlando and playing 28 game season and at the moment im 14 and 7. I traded away Grant Hill and got Ilgauskas from the Cavs and he is the main difference to why im winning now.

cheers

Dynasty ;)

I've played this a few times on me xbox over the last few days. I think general play is to quick, your players seem to be under the ring just waiting for you to chuck it up to them.

NBA Inside Drive 04 is the way to go. I also have the new street basketball one as well. Anyone else played that either?

I'm into my second season as Memphis.

Made the playoffs first year after trading a draft pick and two players to get Paul Pierce from Boston.
Also managed to get myself an excellent PF and PG in the draft.

Phat sounds like your in the middle of a good thing. To get 'Normal' stats during the game to make it realistic what length quarters do you play?? im playing 9min quarters, i pull down about 38 boards a game score between 85 (odd 70ppg) and 115 ppg and get fairly accurate stats.
Hvae you noticed some of the gun Free agents you can get at the start of a new season, they go for dirt cheap to the only problem is you can sign them cheap for only 1 season and alot of the time they dont want to resign or they ask for crap loads.
Gee man all this Bball talk gets me going i need to get my season back going im on top of the Eastern atm and travelling nicely.

cheers

I got the PC version the other day.

It's a real improvement on 03. You can finally block dunks, and the commentary is superb.

The graphics are good, but not great.

Anyway, I just started playing as Phoenix in Dynasty Mode. Before the season began, I traded Stephon Marbury to Houston for Yao Ming, in a bid to bolster my big man stocks.

I got thrashed by Cleveland in the first game of the season, and then got beaten by the Lakers. Yao did bugger all in both games, and I was starting to regret the trade.

The next game against Utah, I was getting soundly beaten at half time. Yao only had 4 points at this stage. I decided to change my game plan, making Yao the go-to man instead of Shawn Marion.

It worked. The mighty Suns launched a terrific comeback, and forced the game into OT. The final score was Phoenix 67, Utah 62. Yao finished the match with 39 points.

It's an enjoyable game, no doubt.

Crap game. All you need to dominate in that game is a quick guard, anyone like Iverson, Francis, Kobe, T-Mac, Allen, even guys like Claxton, Parker, Crawford etc can become absolute superstars.

Pass it to the guard, guard drives to the hole, do your drop step and score. TOO EASY. One thing the game has though that is brilliant is the commentary, but im more interested in gameplay. Also the AI on Live is pretty crap. Seriously why would Houston trade Ming for Marbury when they already have Francis...makes the game unrealistic.

ESPN Basketball or NBA 2K4 is the only way to go. Just started a season with my Bulls and immediatly pulled the trigger on Sprewell for Rose and Mason Jr. Dont think Im done as Im PG heavy with Crawford, Hinrich and the uninjured Jay Williams. One will have to go. 1-0 on the season so far.

Oh and 24/7 also kicks ass on 2K4!

I play full 12 minute quarters, and score about 130-150 a game. Not ideal, but i like the realistic 48 minute games.

Yep, that's because no one signs them originally, thus they sign for the minimum for a year in the hope of getting a massive deal.

In my previous dynasty mode i signed Shareef Abdur-Rahim to 3 one-year minimum deals in a row, which is horribly unrealistic.

What level do you guys play it on? I played a game the other day with 5 minutes quaters and scored 98 points. Are use talking Dynasty mode or season?

Far out, I'm getting caned on 'Starter'.

Roughly how many offensive rebounds do you get per game? I'm playing 8 minute quarters, and struggle to get more than 5 in the entire match!

1-1 on the season now, lost to Atlanta ?????? I play 10 minute quarters on Pro which is the 3rd of 4 difficulty settings. Pretty realistic scoring too. I won my opener 114-104 and just lost to the Hawks 102- 94.

Still deciding who to put on the block? Might just throw both Crawford and Williams on the block and see what kind of offers come rolling in.

I had an away game at the Bucks (5-16) and i tell you what they deadset took me to the cleaners, TJ.Ford dominated Lue and Desmond Mason scored like 21 points to lead them to a 102-99 win over My self (Orlando 15-6).
The next Night we travelled to New Jersey to play the dangerous Nets (9-9). They played preety well but are way to 1 dimensional with Jason Kidd who scored 36 and had 8 assits, although there was help on offence with Martin (22p 8r) i ran out a strong winner 117-101.
T-Mac missed the 2nd quarter with an injuey but came on in the second half and scored 40 points and grabbing 6 boards and 1 block, i think his currently 3rd on the MVP standing behind Garnett and Stackhouse.
So im sitting 16-6 with a home game againts the Lakers 17-5 to come and another 5 games till the playoffs.
Wow exciting times on Live :D :D

ESPN Basketball - NBA 2K4 is a much more realistic game then any EA Sports basketball game I've played so far.

Well, I'm into my second season as Phoenix with no success, so I decided that massive changes had to be made.

Firstly, I traded Jake Voskuhl to Washington for Jahidi White.

Then, a blockbuster trade with Orlando was on the cards.

I traded Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire (who is crap on the game) and Howard Eisley for Tracy McGrady, Donnell Harvey and an untried rookie.

My line-up looks like this:

C - Jahidi White
PF - Riccardo Ellis (#2 draft pick in the 2004 Draft... he is excellent)
SF - Carmelo Anthony
SG - Tracy McGrady
PG - Leandro Barbosa

With Lampe, Zarko and Jacobsen on the bench.

Just lost again....this time to the Bucks. Chandler and Curry are getting frustrating and Chandler usually finds himself on the bnech in the last quarter in favour of the excellent Donyell Marshall. I need a consistent bigman who can finish in the paint because Im just not patient enough to wait on CC's :D Might try to pry K-Mart away from the Nets.

Nice trade. If Ellis is as good as you say he is then Stoudemire wasnt needed anyway. Couple of questions though, why did you end up with the #2 draft pick, did you have that bad a year last season? Also how did you get Melo?

Depends on who i'm playing, and how many outside shots i take.

Guess i'd average about 8-10 per match. I do have Pau Gasol, along with 3 other quality PF's that i acquired through the draft, so rebounding is easier for me.

perhaps try jon bender - he's a dunking machine anytime he gets near the rim (but he's only rated in the low 60's so he might not be good enough to crack your starting lineup)
