You've said most of it already.

Damn right.

Id also like to add that Dirk is a much better all round player. MUCH better passer (about 4 assists per game), better rebounder, better defender and has played the last 5 years with the pressure of being the teams most important player, whereas Amare hasnt.

Also Stoudemire's numbers have been inflated because of the style that team has played. If they and their opponents are attempting 10-15 more shots every game, his scoring and rebounding numbers will get a big boost

Not to mention Nash. Dirk has proven he can still dominate (to the point of a league MVP) with a young PG.

I like Amare, but this is a no brainer for me.

LaFrentz hasnt played in 3 years.

Oden has only been able to prove that he can get injured.

And with Rudy and Outlaw playing well, where will Webster's minutes come from

La frentz has played the last 3 years, dont know what you have been smoking?has a shoulder inury atm but is still a smart bench player if/when he gets back

Webster averaged 10 points last year and hey just resigned him for 4 more years,so im pretty sure he will get minutes.......

I meant that LaFrentz has only got garbage minutes for the last few years. Although I just looked at his stats and its only his last 2 in Portland that have been write offs

I'm only boxsoring but Andre Miller and lou Williams between them played 48 minutes resulting in 11 from 35 FG, and Elton Brand had 8 shots.

Might need to re-work that system

So the fact that STAT has played out of position at the 5 until Shaq came along is lost on you is it? Look at the man since he has moved back to his natural position at the 4. Dirk has always had Diop or Dampier on the frontline with him. Since returning to the 4 he has dominated and has it all over Nowitzki. His 49 points yesterday was one of the most efficient scoring displays seen. Dirk doesn't have that ability.

i jizzed when i saw stat's line yesterday, then i looked at the frontline he encountered. he couldve played with one hand behind his back and still poured in at least 30.

If you're asserting that Dirk isnt as efficient as 17/21 performance, then you're right.

But overall, Dirk is much more efficient and a better all round player.

Amare has benefited from the up tempo style.

Amare has benefited from having a PG spoon feeding him open dunks. If you saw Dirk having to get his shots from post-up isolations at 20 feet from the last 4 years, you'd know how impressive Dirk's numbers really are.

Let Hollinger tell you the rest of the story:

"Nowitzki's specialty remains creating high volumes of shots with virtually no negative plays. He led all power forwards in usage rate, but had the seventh-lowest turnover ratio at his position; he was also 11th in TS%. Combining those two and the fact he was ninth at his position in pure point rating, he used his possessions as efficiently as anyone -- making it possible for Dallas to have one of the league's best offenses even while getting middling-at-best production from the supporting cast"

Parker >STAT:D;):D

Agree with STAT over Dirk though.Dirk seems to choke in play-offs where STAtelevates his game. And play-offs it where it counts

The fact he played the 5 also meant he had quickness advantage against basically everyone he played on.

You must have forgot that Dirk has played center on occasions.he has also had LaFrentz, Shawn Bradley and Antoine Walker playing center next to him.

Amare needs to prove he can maintain his levels of production with a great PG. Dirk has, Stoudemire hasnt.

Aside from the Golden State series, Dirk has been brilliant in the playoffs.

Last year he put up 28/12.

2006: 30/15 avg against SA including 37/15 on their floor in game 7. He scored 50 against the Suns in game 6 when it looked like they would run away. he also carried us in the finals with numerous big shots (including the 20 foot fallaway over Shaq that would have won it bar for the phantom call on wade down the other end)

Anyone who cant recognise Dirk has elevated his game in the playoffs simply isnt paying attention

By the way, since Nash has left, Dirk has averaged 26/12 in the playoffs
