How has Darrell Arthur looked?

I thought he was near certain to be a bust, but he's putting up some decent defensive numbers.

I havent really watched much of him, but hes putting up good numbers. Defensively he seems to be pretty decent - blocks, steals and cleans the boards. Commits a few too many fouls, had a couple of and-1s on him today.

What made you think he would be a bust?

Ah, ok, thought you were watching the game.

He just reminded me a lot of Warrick - too short/skinny for the 4, not skilled enough for the 3. Tweener, basically.

Nah just following the gamechannel from yahoo.

Ive played a lot of the Grizzlies on NBA 2K9 and he does play a lot like Warrick. I dont think Arthur could play the 3 that often though, he isnt as athletic as Warrick. Both the same height/weight though, makes you wonder why they would draft him.

Houston stinking it up. Down by 10 now. Tracy, Yao..no where to bee seen

Bynum's been tremendous defensively.

Doesn't leave his feet to go for blocks, and his length allows him to bother pretty much anyone down there, even Yao.

When your 3 stars don't rock up it's going to be a tough effort, no offense to Aaron Brooks who's playing a good one, but if he's your best player, you've lost.

Artest is shooting poorly. Yao looks slow, hurt and old. TMac cant carry a team anymore.

By the way, Ablett I was just looking at the Celts numbers, and the big 3 have had very big drops in their numbers (Allen 14ppg, Pierce 18ppg, Garnett 17ppg). Their minutes are only slightly down and of course its only 6 games in.

Have they been sharing the load or is this somehting to be concerned about?

I only boxscored it but I would have thought R. Murray with his 9 points and 1 steal in 1:24 was far more crucial.
There was a stretch where he scored 8 straight points to bring it from 78-85 to 85 all.

Flip was awesome but big Al lead the team when we looked down and out, he has an amazing presence on the court for such a young NBA player. He was the difference trust me on that.

Lets be honest here ...
Even at this early stage, all signs are pointing to a Celtics V Lakers re-match in the finals.

Hawks are impressive, but to be realistic, I can't see anything (bar injuries) stopping the Celtics from reclaiming the East, ditto the Lakers in the West ..

I presume you are talking to me...

At this stage I am not worried at all about any of the big 3. Allen started very slowly, but his last few games have been huge, showing he hasn't lost it at all. Garnett hasn't been as dominant as you are used to, but that's fine at this stage of the season, plus Powe has played a much more major role early on in the season.

Pierce has been there when needed - either to get us going at the start, or pick it up when we are behind. The loss to the Pacers was a bit of an aberration which probably skews their stats with such a small sample size. Add in a couple of blow outs and fewer minutes for all 3, and obviously a greater input from the extended bench than you will see during the playoffs, and there is nothing to worry about.

Pretty sure TA, Rondo and Perk have probably all increased their PPG too, and the team as a whole is averaging about 6 PPG less than last season, probably due to a slower tempo.

That is sound reasoning. Pierce can take over a game whenever he wants.

Now they have their championship, they will likely pace themselves through.

Yep, realistically there is about 90% chance that the Celtics are 1-2 in the East. It would take a pretty good effort for anyone to finish above them. Let's face it, KG and co. aren't getting any younger so if it doesn't cost too many wins you might as well begin sort out who will be in your second unit for the playoffs. The road exposure will be good for the role players especially, who had a habit of going missing in the away games in last seasons playoffs.

I'd still like to see a vet center added to the roster at the expense of Scalabrine ala PJ Brown who was seriously important to our chip last season. His jumper against the Pistons in one of the later playoff games was probably the most important shot of the entire season. Doc doesn't seem too keen on giving O'Bryant minutes so far, and BBD ain't quite got it. McDyess? Apparently we are interested.

McDyess would be an excellent addition, but he has I already reached an agreement with somebody, I guarantee it. The longer we dont hear news of who, means it is likely the Pistons.

Mutombo or Mourning are still FAs and would be open to ring chasing, although they are fairly tied to Houston and Miami. Worth a shot

Funny thing is though, with the way Boston beat up the Pistons today, I wonder if that will sway Mcdyess to sign with the Celtics, we are a much better bet then the pistons to return to the finals IMHO.

lol paul pierce and mcgrady have shockers to f me in fantasy.

gw guys

also why did we(sac) beat golden state? Guys ffs lose as many as possible , lottery ftw.

I'm really enjoying the season so far, my team is 5-0 and my second team, and wife's favourite, the Hawks are also 5-0. The loss of Smith for the next 3-4 weeks will hurt them, I'm not sure they have the depth to cover a longterm injury.

I agree with CP, it's already looking like a Lakers-Celtic finals series, this time though the Lakers have the defensive toughness and offensive brilliance to whip them 4-0. GO LAKERS!!
