TJ has always been great. he is more talented than Jose, but not as consistent. Has anyone checked Calderon's A/TO ratio? **** me.

And just quietly, the Pacers are getting themselves out of that hopeless situation.

-Dunleavy became a good player, producing at about his contract.
-'Quis is solid again.
-JO is gone.
-Tinsley is on the way out.
-Granger has exploded.
-Murphy is ok, and only on the books for the remainder of next season (correct me if Im wrong).

A couple of good young players, and they have a solid core looking ahead

Crazy talk. I like TJ, but if Calderon was playing in Indiana he'd be putting up Nash numbers.

As for the Pacers, the system has a hell of a lot to do with it. Jim O'Brien's offense is renowned for inflating stats. It's similar to D'Antoni's, but not as extreme (in that he actually cares about defensive rebounding).

Unfortunately, it relies way too much on jumpshooting, which is why it never wins in the long run.

We have a pretty deep roster. Jack, Daniels (heh) and Foster (legend) plus the rookies Rush (who is already very good on D) and Hibbert (who is a giant).

I was very confident of us getting the 7th or 8th seed and I am even moreso now (and got laughed at on here - though I think you always rated us Funky). Rasho, TJ and Jack have all exceeded expectations.

Just lacking a PF who is a post threat (though the Murphy/Foster combo is still decent) to move us into the top 4 in the East.

True, but so far, they are averaging 4 less 3FG attempts compared to last year, and about 7 less then O'Brien's peak years in Boston, so he has reined them in.

I think I had you guys 5th in the conference or something. I like intelligent players and you have a few on that roster.

Although Marquis has no business chucking up 4 3s per game

He has reined it in. Much more balanced approach than last season. This is because we actually have very good defense at the point this season (and less so because Dunleavy is missing - Quis is a much better defender). We don't have to score 100+ to win now.

Dunleavy's out.

Ha, I don't know why he bothers. It may sound silly but he is one of the elite SGs within 6 feet of the basket. He has so many good moves when he drives (and hits at a crazy %). I think you miss him at Dallas.

I know exactly what you mean. His game is pure basketball smarts. He has the footwork down, the shot releases, when to bank etc.

Its easy to see why nobody bothered to draft him, in a way, because he is average speed, no shot to speak of.

And yeah...we do miss him. He'd walk into our starting line up at SG

Just on O'Brien, I remember one year (2002 I think) where he let Antoine Walker put up about 9 3s per game and he was shooting them at less than 30%. Coach would have learned his lesson

Yep, that's one of my all-time favourite individual seasons. IIRC he also shot something like 55% from the FT line that season.

Baron Davis put up a similar one a couple years later too, but without the FT problems.

edit (exact numbers):

Walker shot 2.4/7.5 on threes, and 61% from the line.

Davis shot 2.8/8.7 on thress, and 68% from the line.

Rose already getting the respect of some big names.

NBA.com - http://www.nba.com/rookies/rankings_081112.html

Rose in the midst of a coast-to-coast break finished with a powerful dunk over Leandro Barbosa, causing Artest to stand up from his chair and say something to the effect of, "Wow, that boy is good!"

Getting attention from big names.

OJ Mayo # 1 though :p

Tips for today, couple of tough ones.......

Denver @ Cleveland - Cleveland should win at home but I wouldnt be surprised if the Nuggets got up, have a good recent record against the Cavs

Dallas @ Chicago - Toss of the coin here but I think the Mavs might have the edge. Rose has an injury cloud too and missed practice according to ESPN

Detroit @ Golden State - Detroit should triumph, Golden State not in the greatest of form
