NBC: Poker After Dark

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

PA is an ultra aggressive player, and he ran good heads up.

While it's easy to critisize Booth for making some of those calls, there wasn't much he could do when a guy's betting inside straight draws and then hitting them, multiple times.

Having said that, his call with AK was pretty horrible against PA's KQ. That was the main hand I felt he dropped the ball on.

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

Watching this week's PAD, which is a repeat with Hellmuth, Jen, Laak, Seidel, Magician and Doyle.

I've never been a big fan of Phil Laak, I never hated him, I just never really warmed to him.

But I'm coming round. I like his stupidity. I should watch all the I Bet You episodes.

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

World Poker Tour multiple winners

Erick Lindgren, Howard Lederer, Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, Gus Hansen and Tuan Le

On Tuesday Segment 1 they talk about the Tong G v Ralph Perry hand. A while ago, I transcribed the whole thing:

I call. I wanna play with him. I got a weak hand though.
I'm still calling if you raise, unless you go all in.
I might still call if you go all in. How much have you got?
How much more? 80 more? I'm calling.
How much more do you want to make it? Just tell me!
Can you put the clock? What is this?
120 more? How much more has he got?
I'm all in. All in. You wanna do this? Do this properly!
Here! Whatta you think I am? I'm here to give my chips away to you?

Ralph Perry: Call.

You play very well. You play very very well!
You're a champion. Send you back to Russia!

Flop: 2-3-10.

Ace-deuce against King-Jack. He's drawing semi-dead on the flop.
Putting all his money in with King-Jack! All in!
This is not something, someone to learn from.

Turn: 7

Pair the board baby. Teach him a good lesson here.

River: 6

YEAH, YEAH BABY COME ON RUSSIAN, GET OUT! It's time to go. YEAH!
Look at this, look how he's doing!
Look how he's playing! Look how ugly this is!
You're a professional player and I can do this to you!
You're a terrible player. This is disgraceful!
I want, bring the Russians on, bring more Russians on. I'm here to get 'em all!
You played that as bad as you can, your career is finished!
You are gone! Gone! Gone!
Feel the power! You feel my power baby? Feel my power!
I got you covered. Is this how you play? You call with King-Jack?
Which school you been to? What is this?
I got you covered like a baby. Up and a-, up and away! Up and away!
Come on, on your bike! On your bike! Get out!

Ralph Perry: Good hand.

Nah, he doesn't deserve any applause. He called with King-Jack!
If you read my poker strategy, I tell everyone, never, never overplay King-Jack.

Did you watch WPT Euroope on Fox 2 last night?

Arrogant **** also snagged a 3 for trips against pocket jacks and then gave the guy s**t...wanted to smack the s**t out of him.

He's like a case of the crabs only less funny

Thanks for the bump on this thread. I wasn't aware of pokertube, instead watching clips of single hands of youtube. This will be fun, cheers :thumbsu:

Last episode for the week finally up.

You can only sit back and laugh at Hellmuth. He really is a joke.

I was preying for what hit the river in the last hand.

Nets v Vets on PAD. Discussion on 2p2 about a hand between Raptor and Dolly.

5 minutes into the 1st video, continues on in the 2nd clip. What do you think?

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

David folds his trips but says he calls with 68. Given his incorrect read of Doyle, 6s full of 8s here is no better than mere trips. Surely he has to call here. Far be it from me to question Raptor, but this is not merely a case of 1st and 2nd level thinking. Sure there are some hands in Doyle's range that crush David, but what is Doyle putting David on? Surely not trip 6s, so to Doyle, the 6s are irrelevant. I couldn't fold trips here.

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

There really isn't that many hands that is beating him. Can't believe he let that go. I'd let that go in Omaha but jeez what more do you want in NLHE. I don't understand how you can let that go...is he normally a tourny player?

O/T like the chick 40 seconds into the 2nd video. assuming she is the host.

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

Seriously just seems like he laid that down because it was Doyle Brunson, no other reason, I was shocked to see him lay it down, very very weird.

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

The raise on the river was very strong given the paired board. Surely Doyle cannot expect a hand that he beats to call that bet? Raptor knows this, and is assuming that Doyle can only make that bet with a hand that beats trip sixes.

Maybe he shouldn't bet the river if he feels he has to fold to a raise?

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

Maybe the issue is that Doyle can't put Raptor on sixes because of his PF raise, while Raptor know that, in fact he raises with rubbish all the time, so a six is firmly in his range..

Re: Poker After Dark on NBC

Surely Doyle is putting Raptor on a better King and reckons he hit his 3 outer on the river.

Obv that's what he's actually putting him on. But from Raptor's view, it must look a lot like a hand that can beat trips - mainly because it is hard to see how a hand like AK could call Doyle's raise.
