What happens if one of the wildcats got injured in the last couple of minutes by the 14th Cairns player to take the court?
Pretty sure there will be no compensation though.
"NBL operations manager Guy Neville said the league incorrectly gave the Taipans permission." - There is the problem with any sanction against Cairns.
If it was a unilateral move by the team then you could find a fair sanction (- like a fine and forcing them to sit out 2 uninjured players from their chosen 12 the other night.... or whatever).
But the fact is the LEAGUE, through its officials on the day, unilaterally gave one team permission to use more players than the other team.... more than the rules of basketball allow... and didn't even tell the other team... and the other team found out when the 13th and 14th players took the court.... WOW.
Could you imagine this in the AFL? Commentators asking the boundary riders to check why one team has 18 on the field and 6 on the bench???
