There's no doubt he's a consolation prize though. In the long pause before he was taken, you could almost hear Lloyd/Bond saying "who's left?" I couldn't believe the names between our 1st & 2nd picks - Paparone, Wright, White, Stewart, O'Brien, Clurey, Shaw, McIntosh, Close, McBean. Picking "best available" with your 1st rounder is dumb when your second round picks are late & you need to draft a key tall fwd. Way to go Lloyd.

All the talls you've mentioned went 10+ picks after we picked Simpson. Except for Paparone; if we'd taken him with our first selection...

Reaching for a guy just because they are tall is dumb, when there are far more talented players available.

Smudge used to be a popular for a Smith.
