So the prayers didn't work then...bloody hell, who'd have thought that?
Well, in fairness, they brought some rain.......not nearly enough of course.

Maybe they need to up the intensity of the prayers, commensurate with need?

Its the gays fault. Conshitta Fierrevanti-Assbiscuit told me so.

If we can only feed them all into our new coal fired power stations God will be pleased.

Pork-barrelling in a desperate attempt to sure up votes.

Half the problem in this country is the obsession that farms should be small scale family owned businesses, with the farmer owning his own land even if it means small holdings below economically sustainable size. Some sort of rationalisation is needed, and some sort of adoption of scientific principles wouldn't go astray either. But yeah, lets just pay them money to maintain the status quo and kick the can down the road for the next generation.

Difficult choice though, without support farms could be permanently lost. Meaning less future income and taxes to pay for budget. Alternative is tax increases

"Support" being debt relief for farming land is that is becoming increasingly marginal economically?

We do this every five to ten years and never address the root issues.

Agrarian socialism indeed.

Bingo!

Set up an "insurance" scheme were farmers put in money during good years to be used during bad ones would make sense.
Although who trusts insurance to pay out given the antics of insurers seen at royal commission

I liked that he then turned up to swan about at the invictus games.

He’s earning that nickname, Scummo
He's truly vile, and he's sending us further down the American road of fetishising the armed forces with this veteran's card idea. Plenty of pork available to those who fought illegal wars in our name, not to so much if you were born with MS.

Their qualifications lie in being thugs, liars and bullies, but they are empty vessels when it comes to everything else - no smarts, no morality, no values, no truth, no courage, no humanity, no strength

*Idle meaning they’re both not doing it currently and not planning on following through with their promise

That’s why we on this side vote labor, we expect our thugs liars and bullies in parliament to also have morality, smarts, values, courage etc.

Also would have added lazy to the coalitions resume. They love going the wedge and the dog whistle, with Rooperts assistance it’s made them a very lazy bunch indeed.

Ironically one of the dog whistles is dumping on ‘lazy dole bludgers’. Abbots the Australian champion of budging off the public tit

Unfortunately the attributes of morality, smarts, value and courage cannot exist concurrently with thuggery, lying and bullying.

The moral, harder and unpopular (with the media) thing to do would be to Royal Commission the shizen out of the media, political parties and power companies. This may even risk Labor losing the next election, even though this is nearly impossible, but it is the right, moral, courageous, smarter and Australian thing to do. The system is overtly corrupt and broken.

The media, politicians and power companies who reject this will be revealing themselves as the enemy of the good people of Australia. Especially the ones who will say, “but the cost of a Royal Commission could be better spent on healthcare, education etc” these individuals / organisations would in effect be outing themselves as the most vile of villains.

"Famously he (Whitlam) chided the left: 'Only the impotent are pure.' He understood that vision without executive power is the prerogative of protest groups, not of a party wanting to govern."

Yep, that’s why there is;
ICAC
ACCC
ASIO
Federal Police
Media
Supreme Court
Constitution
RBA
ATO
Elections
Senate
Unions

All failed to stop the greed, corruption, immorality, vice, laziness, greed, thuggery, bullying, mismanagement, bribery, lying, greed, misleading, incompetence, assholism, stupidity, ignorance, masturbation, greed, lechery, bigotry, drunkenness, debauchery, perversion, US Media mogul, greed, and other assorted evil that has infected the system.

The system is broken. There should be a full Royal Commision as to how this happened and who is responsible. Voting in a sham democracy isn’t going to fix the problem. A Royal Commission will show where the problems lie.

Who would report the shortcomings of the media?

Who would report the shortcomings of the media?

That would be a recommendation which comes from the Royal Commission.

There are already systems (which are currently broken) in place for other industries, licenses, anti-conglomerates etc There are also already fact check and watch dog sites out there already.

I reckon a lot of this will end up in LNP and donor pockets.

Seems like a rort more than pork barrelling.
