If Ned Long is already as good as his cult thinks he is, then there is no need to worry about Mitchell taking his spot. The potting and writing off of a Collingwood premiership hero returning from injury is a bit Carltonish - especially when our team is currently being carried by geriatrics. Luckily it looks like Fly is going to let Long earn his finals spot by pushing Mitchell out rather than gift it to him because he is younger.

How can writing off a premiership hero be at all Carltonish? They haven't had one for a while!

That's a bit confusing. Are you pro or anti Mitchell? I'm anti Mitchell but I haven't written him off.

I'm pro neither Titch or Long if everyone is fit in September.

Pendles, Nick, Sidey, Josh/Perryman with bursts from McCreery and Jordy. Crisp as back up.

Jordy playing VFL this week?

The VFL team could have inclusions of Fin Mitch Jordy and Bobby And Josh Browne
Looks that way.
Josh Browne indicated to me he would be ready soon. Be interesting to see if its this week. Training is tomorrow.

Not sure on this - If true then I suspect a lay off after 9 games is not encouraging in respect to his fitness.
He should be at peak fitness by now and not needing rest.
All you need to do is check and you will see he played those games in the vfl. I’ve no idea how you or I can guess from this far away about how fit he is or if he needs a weeks rest to refresh. He might be in top shape and just needed a deload. Anyway I’m 50/50 on him being best 23 but can’t see why being managed a week is much of a big deal.

That’s true. But he was out for longer than a knee reco, which often takes players a year to find prior form.

Tempting to write him off based on what we’ve seen but I believe they will persist for now.

He’s a pretty big inclusion if able to recapture form after all.
I don't see why older players should get more time to prove themselves than the newer draftees just because they were great in the past.
All these ifs could also apply to the younger players.

We're not talking about a kid - we're talkingabout a diligent professional - he'll be fit. Pace and ball use are the only questions with Tom. Spinny is just looking for things as he wants Long in the team.

Not really the same. Draftees have never won Brownlows and aren’t coming back from an 18 month layoff.
Not surprising as they only get a couple of games if they're lucky.
Will Hayes had two games and Charlie West had one.
The only young players that have been given a block of games this year are Ed Allan and Ned Long.
ANyway, I take your point.
Will find out tonight whether he was rested or omitted last week and Fly pretty much said he'd be back this week.

He said on his podcast he would be playing.

Tbf, West got injured & having all those talls in the forward line didn't work.

Hayes got his chance when others were injured, they then came back & then he had his own injury.

The other younger players such as TJ, Ryan, Harvey, Fin, Roo are all injured.

Long has come back to the field a bit after he was overhyped mid-season. Needs a strong game on Sunday.
He just needs to do his job and contribute to a win.

God at the Moment his Dispoals are Terrible

Turns it over nearly every time he uses the Ball

His disposals have always been terrible, it’s just they’re more obvious now to everyone and they can’t even bring up rubbish stats to show why he’s still good…

1 effective disposal for the game is a disgrace.

But he had plenty of score involvements, probably a good 5-6 goals for Brisbane.
