Yes on pure numbers mitchell may look better but for the overall midfield he probably helps release the other damaging players

He didn’t seem to get in the way of any opposition players last night, they all had a ton of it.

We’ve lost 3 of 4, he’s badly out of form. Time for a reset in the VFL for Neddy.

vfl has a bye, so it wont do any good.
They may rest him for a week and come back v crows. But I suspect they'll just back him in.

Exactly, one has shown he is elite, in the top echelon of the game, the others best is barely above VFL standard.

It’s why you stick with the elite player when the heat is on at this time of year because the lesser player will be found out.

The unfortunate situation we’re in is one of WHE/Markov/Mitchell/Long/Allan/Cox has to be in our best side as sub at worst even assuming everyone is healthy.

Ned Long’s drop off in form has to be studied. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a player turn over 100% of their possessions in a half and finish with single digit touches on 11% efficiency (?) playing mostly in the guts.

There's definitely potential with Long. He's clearly shown that this year. But he's still young and inexperienced and right now he is underperforming and regressing from earlier in the season. There is no shame in dropping him to the VFL just like we do with Allan. There's no reason that he should be a guaranteed starter if his performance hasn't been up to scratch.

In the heat of finals pressure I'd much rather back in the proven experience of Mitchell who almost won the Norm Smith 2 years ago for us. He can't perform any worse than Long ATM.

Connection into the forward line been an issue for a few weeks now.
JDG looks better than I expected at this point.

Missing McCreery and his speed. In fact, we should be looking to recruit more speed into this team.

Our form seems eerily similar that of 2023 when we were spluttering into finals.

Are you seriously bringing up his irrelevant accolades from years ago? Mitchell is cooked, and Long is overwhelmed. Neither should play
