Long tries hard but he’s a mid that really should only be depth on a list. Issue we have is our list of mids is so paper thin he gets games even without injuries.

Can believe the BS here - Long turned the game in the third QTR in the Adel final and was superb - and lauded by all. On that day he wasn’t slow, or a poor decision maker, or turnover merchant - he was elite in a clutch game, when it needed someone to stand up.

Now he has 2 poor games and he’s a spud.

Long has been average since the second half of last season. One quarter of footy at the end of last year doesn’t change that.

Every player value is measured by his best performances - people are completely ignore this in Long’s case, and forget he was in the AFL Best under 22 squad.

Yes, we know he has limited nous, just needs to get it, dish it out. Mind you there was a passage late in the last where we had momentum, ball was launched over half forward line, he was on Dawson , and Dawson completely impeded him, virtually holding onto him, right in front of the umpire, “nah, play on”. If it were the other way around, free kick Dawson. Just bleedingly obvious.

Long had a pretty decent year last year in most matches. He hasn't this year. Then again, he is not Robinson Crusoe here. Collingwood, sadly has far too many who have not played as well as they should after two matches this season.
