It's a combination of coach, opportunities, game plan.

Ginnivan is a way better player at Hawthorn than he was at Collingwood. Is that the coach or, the game plan, or opportunity?
Ginni did kick 40 goals at Collingwood, but he plays a different role at Hawthorn where he has a license to run further up the field. So, yes I think coach and role.

Just on Ginni, last night was an example where opposition clubs don’t really seem to rate him and because of his lack of pace, happy to leave him alone in order to set the play up further up the field. Ginni has the smarts to stay out for the receive.

I’d still take Josh Daicos settings up play.

He's not quick enough to apply the pressure we want from our forwards. However, I think that's his ideal role - playing on a half back play maker - he'll get to good spots and hurt them the other way. He's really got to improve his disposal in general play - he's really sloppy unless kicking for goal.

If the rumours are true that we are having a crack at Rowell, i hope that we target someone else with he $$ perhaps even Curnow or Mckay instead
I think it will jsut be kids and a back up ruck this year - unless someone walks.

Singlehandedly changed the dynamic of our midfield this kid.
The whole team really, because when Dagoey is fit, i've always said that he is a burst player and giving him heavy minutes in the midfield is not good for him. We can now play him almost as a permanent fwd and only on ball when Daicos is on the bench to add some class and polish .

Harry M - could he not be a backup ruck?
You wouldn't play both McKay and McStay. He'd be a very expensive upgrade on a very solid senior player. I think it'd be a shocker.

I've been all over Rowell as the perfect target for the exact role that Long is playing.

I think the sample size is now big enough that we can say Rowell may not be a priority in terms of the level of investment required to get him to the club.

Rowell is still a gun and would make any side better, but perhaps we have better areas we can invest into over the next 24 months.

It also removes the worry about finding capital and cap space for him this year when we have all these draft prospects to focus on, and some veterans to get signed up like Maynard, Cameron and Elliott.

Long has suddenly become one of our best players. Amazing effort and what a huge credit to him, after being dropped so quickly by Hawthorn.

If we are in the market for another top tier mid to plan for the retirements of Pendles and Sidey, I’d prefer to target Butters or Reid as the better fit than Rowell in a starting trio with Long and Daics.

Pipe dream but Butters would be chefs kiss. Mix of grunt and speed. Right age profile. Gosh thats our midfield for the next 10 years

I'm starting to lean that way too. Butters that is. Reid I'm not convinced of, in terms of what he'll cost vs proven, consistent output

Yep Butters the clear preference. Reid on the list as I think he will likely become a top five player, plus WC are targeting a few of our players so may be another Houston situation. More of a risk though.

I have a couple of CFC mates in VIC, we travel around catching up at games every couple of years, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. I asked one of them what he thought of Long, he replied, 'best footballer ever!'.I responded, 'really, you are not concerned about his foot skills?'. He responded, 'No, he is better than De Goey'. I replied, 'That is possibly the worst thing you have ever said to me'.....He responded, 'Ned will have 35 possessions against Hawthorne'. I responded, 'yes, 10 kicks, 9 will be straight to the opposition'. No response, I was closer to the mark than my mate!

Your opinion is silly.

You've generally been a pretty balanced poster, but this Long obsession has exposed you as a clueless w***er.
