5 kicks 5 turnovers last night. Taylor Adams would be proud.

But turnovers don’t matter, all they care about is how many touches, not what he does with it…

There were way too many times last night we had Sidebottom and Long in the middle together. Fumble, fumble, turnover and Lions ran away.

Hilarious
Were you laughing yesterday when those handballs went straight to lions players and they scored ?
Do you think that's a good deflection? He is 22 years old and not even 50 games into his career, yet played essentially every game this season and broke the tackling record. Will likely poll in the top 10 in the B&F too in a top 3 team. That is obviously a good sign for a young midfielder

His trajectory is great, need him to continue working hard and continue to improve each year. Needs to work on his kicking. He was okay yesterday, didn’t have runners in support to dish off to.
I put his kicking mechanics down to his physique . He is way to thick in the quads and hammy area. He always struggles with his balance when he runs.

He had a lot of friends, so unfair to single him out.

Lets not forget,he has lost some time due to injuries. This year if anything is a base for him to work off.
His disposal average went up by about 10 from last year to this year.

Now are we expecting Ned to become an A grade midfielder?
The answer is no,but if he can become a consistent high level B+ mid with A grade performances sprinkled here or there, then there will always be a place for him in the side.

Gee generous marker saying he’s fine

Watching the disaster unfold in my living room yesterday as those turnovers mounted up , fine wasn’t one of the words that was used by us
Now I’m going to hold your hand as I say this, but maybe you should read my post again and identify where exactly I said his performance yesterday was fine?

He wasn’t great yesterday but he had plenty of friends, including some of our well established A-graders.

He was very good two weeks ago in the qualifying final. Overall, looking at his year, I think he is going fine, and far from being of any big concern to us.

I don't think this can be 100% correct because I recall him hitting Lipinski on the tit in the goalsquare with a great pass from outside 50 in Q2.

Point stands that it wasn't his greatest game, but he's young, and I think he's shown his best (see the final against Adelaide) is more than good enough for the level.

Correct

First sentence

“ he’s fine “

I wasn’t just talking about yesterday either

Howe gave away the first two goals essentially. Maynard also other times of the match. We cracking into them or ?
Maynard and Howe have been long term defenders who have been champions of our club
Howes nearly done but had a magnificent career as has Maynard
They made errors yesterday
The analogy with longs career so far doesn’t cut the mustard

It is correct, he had 5 turnovers and only the 5 kicks for the game.

Well he’s currently at a D- level, so it’s a bit of a stretch to think he’ll make it anywhere B+.

I like how you just ignored the instance that proves it isn’t correct

Why do you think he played 25 games this year?
We had Mitchell injured and de goey unavailable early on
We are light on for big inside mids
I wanted long to work but the disposal efficiency says otherwise
I’m not questioning his attack on ball or tackling which is first class
I just can’t get past the poor disposals and decision making outweighing the good stuff

Jeez did Ned long sleep with your missus? Absolutely taking it out on a 22 yr old mid who just finished his first full season in the AFL.

For now I will back him to continue his improvement and be even better next year.

Except you’re ignoring a very key concept, turnovers aren’t limited to kicks. But the original post is still correct.

But it’s interesting how mid season his boyfriend loved to point out his wonderful high number of score involvements every week, that pass to Lippa was his one for the match.

I suppose it’s lucky we’ve picked him solely for the tackling now…

Yet a lot of his supporters have no issue taking it out on Brownlow medalists or premiership heroes, but draw the line at any criticism of a VFL standard reject…

What do you think “5 kicks 5 turnovers” implies?

That's because of his age. What he has done in first full season cannot be laughed at .

He increased his average by 10, averaging close to 20 touches a game, at least he is finding the ball, which is not bad for a "vfl standard reject".
Sure he has lots of areas or improve on, but his floor is very promising.

Can't bring up the prelim game because everyone was terrible, with the exception of few players like naicos.

So lay off the young man, and give him time to improve.

The problem is Ned getting 20 touches a game is bad for Collingwood given his appalling lack of skill or composure under pressure which results in the ball going back the other way most of the time.

Is he going to suddenly at 23 going to learn how to kick or handball?

It seems because the list is so old people want to think any young player must play no matter if they perform or not.
