YeahThat's why you're not a selector on the AFL under 22 panel
AFL preliminary finals are irrelevant when you’ve been selected in that

Really ?Only when you can't see the wood for the trees.
You've been smashed from pillar to post on your fringe attitude to Long.
Further debate serves no purpose, when the prevailing commentary by so many, is that you are wrong on this issue.

Cal B served me beers after the game. I think he has made it.I
Really ?
Lol
Don’t dare retaliate to the angry mob !!!
Your ranting posts sound like you’ve had a bit of trauma from pillar to post yourself
Swatting away silly posts from the sheep isn’t exactly being smashed
You thought Callum b would make it too
I don't think he'll be a run with tagger. He hasn't got the pace for those who do damage on the outside. There's two blokes playing in the Granny who are crucial to their teams who I think we're trying to develop him towards - Atkins and Dunkley. Tackling machines who can put the clamps on opposition beasts around stoppage, but also win it themselves.I don't know if he's not good enough.
I think there's enough to work with, but the responsibility is on the coaches to either:
- Develop and improve his weaknesses or...
- Maximise and utilise his strengths to our advantage where possible
If it were me? I'd be using him almost exclusively as a run with/tagger. Just reckon our midfield is beaten far too frequently going head to head against opposition midfields (who tag our best mids by the way) for us to just keep banging our heads into a wall on this
Reckon Ned would make a fantastic run with/tagger
Try and be amusing wipeCal B served me beers after the game. I think he has made it.
Agreed. A dollar shop Dunkley would be an ideal outcome (he also cannot kick) - although Long is almost already there yet. Maybe close to Dunkley is achievableI don't think he'll be a run with tagger. He hasn't got the pace for those who do damage on the outside. I place HH and Long at the head of the pack. I hope HHs knee is 100%. I would have Allan and Parker very good. I have lingering Allan issues with limits, position and approach but getting the games is the right way. Parker has to change his cricket body and this preseason should see him cement his place. Steele is edge of best 23. I expect a jump. Reef waiting and wanting. West has that swagger and may surprise early. I fear HDM, McCrae and Ryan may just be where they should be. A potential huge loss of draft capital but there is a chance. 0/3 maybe the outcome. The focus on experienced talent at the draft may lead to young talent leaving. The journey is a joy.It was a bit circumstantial in terms of young players pushing seniors out - the two most likely to have done that - Harrison and Reef were on the sidelines with ACLs. I thought it was actually a pretty decent year in terms of development (but I tend to be a bit less optimistic about the VFL players than most are) - Long, plus Parker and Steele look very likely. Charlie West showed a bit of wow factor. Add in Reef and Harrison and that's a decent number of young developing players who should be pushing to be regulars next year. It's enough to refresh the team in the short term. but we need to keep developing and adding players like all teams.

He had one great final, one poor. A player with so few games and his AFL traits is a keeper.
No current season stats available
Of course you’d want to see glimpses of something that makes him look like an AFL footballer, and he’s done that. It’s not every week that somebody breaks the club tackle count record.
His start of season was better than his end of season, but that’s very normal for young players.
Consistency will come later.
Dunkley would be awesome, but Atkins even moreso for - as like Atkins there's a bit more offensive scope with Long than Dunkley has.Agreed. A dollar shop Dunkley would be an ideal outcome (he also cannot kick) - although Long is almost already there yet. Maybe close to Dunkley is achievable
I wouldn't complain either, it's probably just lazy from me because Dunkley is a similar sizeDunkley would be awesome, but Atkins even moreso for - as like Atkins there's a bit more offensive scope with Long than Dunkley has.
Bailey Smith, Dunkley ….I can expect him not to use the ball to a level that would make taylor adams blush
Modern football is as much as anything about not turning the football over when you have possession. Look at the teams playing in the grand final next week and tell me how many ball butchers they have?
Bailey Smith, Dunkley ….
Carefully avoided talking about Dunkley, who has very similar disposal issues and was a real kicking liability in his early daysSo you're telling me Bailey Smith uses the ball on a similar level to Ned Long? Okay buddy.

Maynard and Howe have been long term defenders who have been champions of our club
Howes nearly done but had a magnificent career as has Maynard
They made errors yesterday
The analogy with longs career so far doesn’t cut the mustard
You asked the question. Both listed are longer playing. Further developed. I gave you ball butchers like you asked. Clearly the fault is you question and your understanding of your own question. I would have Bailey Smith and Dunkley before Long, but that was not your question. So you're telling me Bailey Smith uses the ball on a similar level to Ned Long? Okay buddy.
As a Bulldog his disposal was comparable to Long's is now. Even his kicking motion 3 years ago in these highlights was significantly more robotic and stiff than it is now, similar to Long's.So just to be clear, you're saying Josh Dunkley uses the ball on a similar level to Ned Long, correct?
