We might have to get steene in for a few centre throw ups. He's got a great leap. Those young rucks last night did all their damage in the throw ups, they were average around the ground

Still feel that ned is too heavy below the waist. Everytime I see him move it looks like he is going to lose his footing at any moment and fall over.

It feels like his feet are in wet concrete, has a very wide turning arc, isn't too agile.

Can believe the BS here - Long turned the game in the third QTR in the Adel final and was superb - and lauded by all. On that day he wasn’t slow, or a poor decision maker, or turnover merchant - he was elite in a clutch game, when it needed someone to stand up.

Now he has 2 poor games and he’s a spud.
You people need to get a grip.

I think his handball to Steele against the Saints was our standout individual moment of the year so far. But he's a mid - it's not about a few standout plays in a QF or in round 1. They've got to be really consistent. and earn their keep on regular reliable performance.

I think he's got potential and will continue to improve with his obvious work ethic, but he's not good enough at stoppage yet - considering his weaknesses.

Which is also why we’ll struggle when you see Ned Long and Steele Sidebottom as 2/3 midfielders at a centre bounce, the opposition just run it out with ease when that happens, way too slow.

Winning centre clearances is not Long’s bread and butter. It’s N.Daicos and some others. His role is more than big body but it includes that. His role also includes nullifying others including opposition and those trying to stop “our” centre clearances players.
Is he playing well? No.
Are other Collingwood players not playing well too? Yes.
Is there room for improvement? Of course.
(Should “we” have let Cox go with new rules) absolutely no.
Should he dispose of the ball earlier? Probably but his strength to break tackles or continue to h’ball worked last year but not this year.

I just hope he and the team improves to be competitive.

Has weaknesses sure and form has been down… but still very contested, and he tackles well.

Prindable… Anderson… Not a lot of young contested midfield options at the pies that are likely to surpass Long

This is why pies need to keep the high picks and hit the draft over the next few years

Disappointed by the pile on here. Long has developed in a team role and is a top 23 inclusion. He has played 39 games and has time to develop. Coaching and senior players need to help here. Being in the young AA team last year is huge, the players available for that team is wonderful. To stamp a player’s papers in a badly performing round 1 team is mind blowing.
