Needed: Pace in the midfield

I disagree. Last year he was being touted as a Top 3 pick. I think teams may have been put off by apparent behavioural problems (particularly in light of the Fevola saga), but surely he was worth taking a punt on.

Were there more than one behavioural issues? All I heard was he was caught sleeping with his girlfriend on a school camp.

Not exactly up there with Fevola. Maybe the selectors thought he disregarded rules and authority figures and it would lead to bigger problems later on.

Guys..nicholson is a flying machine.

Broke the agility record at the draft camp and also has ran a 2.81 for the 20 metre.

Would be the quickest player on your list..where is he atm?

Yep, I was a big fan of us going after Darling with our first pick in last years draft. Can make an immediate impact(as shown on the weekend), and is already chasing and taking contested marks better than Watts. Really think we made a mistake here. It's evident we need toughness added to our forwardline. We have some flashy players, but really lack toughness in the F50. Darling would have complimented our forwardline perfectly. Cook might turn out ok, but looks like Watts mkII, and just by looking at the kid, he's years away from having an impact at senior level. Darling should have been in our team, bottom line....

I'd rather someone like Trengove develop a good strong body so that he can win his own ball and take contested marks (like on Sunday) than just be a quick outside midfielder. Just like Sylvia.

Geelong didn't have many lightning quick players (Wojcinski and Ablett are two that spring to mind) but they moved the ball quick and destroyed teams that way.

Darling is 191 cm. Not sure if that's mid-sized.
Should have gone for best available (which Darling was), not just picking someone (like Cook) because they happen to be taller than the other player by the length of a Chinaman's dick.

Id say 191 is mid sized forward (when you compare to a genuine tall fwd in Franklin at 196cm), Cook is a tall fwd at 196cm i think Melbourne my have ideas of playing him as a pinch hitter in the ruck as he develops (im talking 3-5 years down the track)

Pavlich - 192cm, Fevola - 191cm, Bradshaw - 191cm. I'm sure there are more, that's just off the top of my head. Darling plays big, strong and tall, he's more than capable of holding down a key position.

Exactly! We already had a tall agile big man in the F50 in Watts. Jurrah plays similar as well. I really thought Darling would have been the cream on the cake for our F50 in that he brought something different. We all saw what Tapscott could do with a big strong body in defense. A taller replica in the F50 would have complimented what we already had beautifully. Personally, I feel BP and co. got this selection wrong.

P.S - nothing against Cook, he could well be a very good player for us in the future, but I feel Darling would have brought more balance to our F50 than what Cook can. Plus Darling would have brought immediate impact to our senior team, which Cook will not.

Popped on this thread to ask a question and couldn't help noticing that two very genuine questions from opposition supporters have been ignored. Is this normal on this board or are you just a bit caught up in the debate.

I'm curious about how Blease is going as well cause from what I saw at the carnival a few years ago he could solve your problem. He seemd very Andrew Lovett like with the ball in his hands. superquick and creative.

Blease might get a game soon thanks to some decent(ish) VFL form and a mounting injury list.

On our board there is a waiting list of approximately 7-8 weeks for a response to opposition questions.

Your welcome :thumbsu:

Haha seems you were right about the delays mate, Blease is coming along nicely with some good VFL performances, understandably the FD are being a bit cautious with him after his injury (broken leg) which I understand is still giving him a little trouble (pain wise) every now and then.

I don't think BP & co (regarding darling) are on there own there, add another 16.

Hopefully Blease uses his balls for more innocent purposes.
