will be absolutely welcome back at collingwood. well respected
He'll be in high demand as an assistant no doubt. Mick and the Blues will be into him as well.

From our pov he had to go. Whilst it is disappointing it came to this he made his own bed with many decisions he made. He was given a lot of support with the way he went about it, it just didn't come off and was never going to.

Good luck to him in the future but we'll need more luck than him to turn our fortunes around.

I hate to say it but Barrett made a good point. The decision was made on Friday, no one knew about it until this morning. Carro's source no longer at the club?

Good luck guys, hopefully this is the first move in getting your club back to the competitive unit your supporters deserve. Neil Craig is a smart man a good choice as caretaker coach and now he has his chance to put his own stamp on your list I'm sure there is a very good chance your players will lift in the remainder of the season under his sole tutelage. Like all coaches time eventually got him at the Crows but we were quite successful during his tenure and until the last seson always competitive. Again all the best going forward.

...that is a VERY good point.

Who was the other board member apart from McLardy to stand down? I doubt it was Don himself...

It's about the third move after Schwab/Connolly and McLardy but thanks for the sentiment all the same.

Under Craig I doubt we'll improve that much on the scoreboard (maybe a little) but hopefully they grow as men and we can bring respect back to our workplace.

PJ was in fine form, was impressive..
He was. As was Neeld. I picked this happening at this point in time, as did many others.

It didn't seem to be working, it's over, now let's move on (as Neeld would want). He won't be the only one to go and definitely never deserved to be.

Rumors are Clarkson is going to be offered a deal he can't refuse. Rumors at this stage of course.

Schwabb leaving for Jackson is the best thing the club has done in the past five years.

A deal Clarkson can't refuse is to continue coaching Hawthorn.

Stuart Grimshaw also stood down but we have to be careful in joining the dots here. It could have been any of them. The question is whether Healy and Grimshaw are long time close acquaintances.

Agreed. Possibly the best thing it's done in the past couple of decades. However only time will really tell how successful a move it was.

What?

Come on guys, you sound like the Emolanders who think Dawesy should be made captain because he talks tough in interviews.

The saying 'everyone's got a price' is one which the club is banking on I would presume (excuse the pun). Plus Clarkson has ties with Melbourne. Also already has a flag with the Hawks. Possibly another one this year, as well as a 'Buddyless' Hawks group next year most likely. If he were to win one with the Dees (and starting from this point), he'd be considered one of greatest coaches of all time.

Once again, only rumors though. It's a 50/50 change imo. He'd be considering it.

Lets not give Jackson too much kudos just yet. Just because he's cleaned out a bit and is good in press conferences - we get sucked into false dawns too easily - as we did with Neeld.

Getting rid of the coach is the easy (and obvious) first step. It's process from here where he'll hopefully show his value.

He's actually doing things though. Change is actually happening. While obviously we have to wait and see for improvement the ambition and workrate of the man is enough to be happy.

Can't believe he would. He's built that list and they due for success. Why would he leave that for us? So someone else can reap the rewards of his work? While he chooses to inherit our mess? Also has to potential to tarnish his coaching credentials if it doesnt work out.

Know he played for us but that doesnt mean much. Besdies he's more of a North man

Its a bit weird he's wearing all his Melbourne gear and has all the melbourne sponsors set up behind him. Very different to Bailey.
Jimmy and Don waited until Bailey went for a bathroom stop before they ran home. This is better.

This won't happen on the AFL's dime as it would pretty much bring the game into disrepute. Your best bet for an experienced senior coach would Eadel; Ayres is another who could be an option though not fashionable.

He's good friends with a lot of our 'boys'. I f'n hate even referring to the boys club, but he is. He wouldn't leave Hawthorn without a proper succession plan in place for them (he's not a Ross Lyon I don't believe). But I believe he has one set up. Some good youth coming through and some very good senior players who still have a couple of years in them to help the youngsters develop. Don't forget that Ratten is there, plus some other very good assistant coaches too.

In saying all of that, I agree with you for the most part, but you can't say it's not a chance. And once again, you're right, his career might be tarnished coming to us. We have a pretty f'n good track record in recent times. However, can you imagine what regards he'd be held in if he took Melbourne from this...to a flag. F*ck, even top 4.
