Neeld sacked

Oh dear.

I think in time we will look back on that moment as one of the worst moves of all time. By that I mean Neeld putting Moloney offside basically as he walked in the door "18 months ago". We may have needed a hard-nosed coach at the time, but FFS that was a terrible decision by Neeld.
Not sure how you can say that directly after viewing Moloney's instagram?

The instagram absolutely proves why Moloney was on the outer and that his "snubbing" over the captaincy and dropping from the leadership group was the right choice.

Thank god Moloney is no longer around and able to infect the playing group with his poisonous attitude. If Neeld got a single thing right it was getting Moloney to leave.

I'm so torn, Neeld will be on Footy Classified tonight... I want to hear what he has to say, but I sure as hell don't want to listen to Caro whinge and whine about how we're wrong at life. She will be especially sour because she didn't get word of the story before it broke this morning.

Haha, that is a little ray of sunshine! And no, I'm not on a mission to quote as many of your posts as I can ;)

Beamer posted this on his instagram...

Classy fella.

But it does indicate that there would be players who disliked (may be an understatement) Neeld.

What the hell has class got to do with it. He's just calling a spade a spade.
Class has a lot to do with it.

He is celebrating and having a larf over a man losing his job. Pretty low behaviour.

And he's not calling a spade a spade. He's just continuing his little bitch fest over being called a spade himself when he didn't want to hear it!

Soon clubs will need to give training to players about how to use social messaging services. Either that, or give them an IQ test. If they score low, they're not allowed to have a computer or a phone with internet connectivity.

They give it to us at work.

It's called 'don't say anything unless approved'.

Pretty simple.

The same Maloney that had 0 touches during 186 that led to Bailey's sacking? Poor form

The same Moloney who went into the rooms at half time, vomiting, and slept through the second half. Our midfield would be better with Beamer in it.

Difficult to have clanger disposals when you're asleep. Unless you're dreaming about it...

I have absolutely zero sympathy for Beamer on that account. It's not a brave thing to play through sickness, it's actually fairly selfish and most definitively frowned upon by the club. I know of a player who did that at casey and was demoted to the Casey 2nds for two weeks. In the clubs eyes if your willing enough to take the field, all your excuses afterwards go out the door. I enjoyed Beamer when we we're winning, but he is one of the many reasons the club is in the position it is, poor and inconsistent attitude, puts himself before the club. Instead of dropping his head, he should've been giving more, and setting an example when dropped, his true character was shown, then and it is again by his childish instagram post.

Well said.

It was torture watching him jog around last year not giving a shit. Beamer was evidently oblivious to the fact that the coach wasn't the one who was paying his salary it was the supporters and sponsors. He was paid to do a job and he snubbed his nose. Got a problem with the coach? Deal with it. Just don't serve the supporters slop.

Glad he pissed off.

Another of your exaggerations, where you provide nothing but misinformation and hyperbole. He had a heavy flu/virus, he wasn't vomiting, and spent the second half in the rooms asleep.

He showed today how immature he is and why he deserved to be dropped from the leadership group.

I don't think Roos will coach?

Neeld wasn't too negative, Neeld was disrespectful.

The players don't need kisses and cuddles or a hard arse - they need belief.

If Williams could give them belief I'd be happy to have him.

What respect do a lot of these players deserve? If they couldn't even invest in a coach from day one, because he didn't tell them what great footballers they are. Heaven forbid he expect the precious petals to do anything hard on the track, or to take some responsibility or ownership.

These players may deserve some respect when they actually show that they care. Either the list is overrated, or the players don't hate losing enough.

Did us a favour by not doing that as tempting as it would be. If he said something along the lines of 'congrats you got your man' it would be heavily construed as Melbourne being run by the journalists.

They probably are!

Why didn't Melbourne stick to their guns last week when they didn't sack Neeld at that meeting? They either had to back him in, or sack him, but not to do one, and then do the other. It's shows indecisiveness.

There doesn't seem to be many at Melbourne to make a good decision, and stick to it. They seem to go by how they are perceived, and go by that.

Besides, the media pressure would wear away at Neeld, where either he would be sacked or quit. JUst because when the media went to a Melbourne press conference, they got someone with passion, rather than someone who called them all by their first name and joked around with them. Neeld wasn't the "nice guy" that the media demand a coach be, so they treated him like shit. Hell, there were many asking for his sacking at Round 9 LAST YEAR! He had coached nine games, and yet he was in the gun. Talk about never having a chance. How many coaches had an impressive record in their first nine games?

Neeld had to go for a multitude of reasons (most obviously results on the field) but hopefully he put the building blocks in place for our next coach to take advantage of (better training standards etc)

It was tough at Fitzroy long before Roos left. He played at Fitzroy for 13 years. (1982-1994)

I know. But I felt that Roos' defection was the final nail in the coffin. Shouldn't the captain stick around and go down with the ship? Fitzroy needed a morale boost, and Roos staying would have given Fitzroy something to be happy about.

Roos was even more selfish, because he decided he wanted to leave, and go to Adelaide, on the day trade period finished. So, Fitzroy had 4 hours to get a good deal for their best player. Of course, no suitable deal could be done in that time, and Roos went into the draft (ending up at Sydney), meaning that Fitzroy lost their best player for NOTHING in return.

If I was a Fitzroy supporter, I would find it hard to forgive Roos for his actions regarding this, as it smacked of selfishness. Roos would have got another club if Fitzroy folded, so why did he jump early?

My thoughts. First off Neeld just had to go, rightly or wrongly he had lost the players, the supporters and lastly, most importantly Peter Jackson. I am glad Mclardy is gone as well, the next step is get our board and president in order. Peter Jackson is doing a great job and the AFL is having a big say in what is happening with our club which is great because we as sure as hell can't help ourselves at the moment.

I had a massive LOL at Neeld on footy classified last night, he was in complete denial. I am actually looking forward to going to the footy again on Saturday afternoon knowing that Neeld is gone for ever.

How is that attitude going to work? Ever?

New coach comes in 'Oh-ho-ho, you're not worthy of respect - you are ****ing worthless, but play your heart out for me lads! Play with intensity, blah, blah, blah'

Yeah, I'm sure that's what Hinkley did with last years basket case, Port.

Melbourne needed money to pay Neeld to sack him. We didn't have that at the time, we got that money on Friday.

A lot of people writing about Beamer are a bunch of hypocrites. Neeld's was a clueless n00b of a coach and I'm glad he's gone. I am pinching myself that Roos is even "intrigued" by the coaching role.

Ok beamer, go so some leadership skills by sooking during a season and posting ******ed instagrams.

Any catch Neeld on Footy Classfied last night? Painful viewing. Dodged every question, shirked any responsibility. Said he regretted nothing. Felt there was inference to and regret that the Board hadnt allowed him to see out his contract. Strangely he came off as likeable (because he was placid and unable to be baited) but completely delusional. They all agreed he was still in denial once the interview was over.

Garry was visibly distraught about the whole saga and did accept some responsibilty for the whole thing. Then a light-hearted remark about Demon fans being relieved he wouldnt be involved in the next selection. I think we can all agree Gary made the wrong decision for the right reasons with Neeld. People say Gary doesn't do enough for the club but he's at least tried and put himself in the gun. On the other hand I can't believe people get behind Schwartz as a champion for the club cause for his inflammatory comments - what has he contributed to us since retirement?

Caro extremely smug about the whole thing suggesting Gary shouldve know Neeld wasnt the right choice. She seriously is a piece of work - what do these footy journo's actually do other than criticise the decisions of others? Whilst be held to no account themselves. Gary rightly notes, how can anyone possible foresee these things until they happen. Neeld's CV and recommendations were top class, as a senior coach for us he turned out not up the challenge, but we really shouldnt hold Gary etc accountable for all of it.

Back to Neeld though, I know he needs to promote himself for his next job but to sit there and deny there was anything wrong is unfathomable - surely, if he had his time again he'd do something different. Because if the state we're in is his idea of progress as expected I doubt anyone in the footy industry could take him seriously again.

I thought that was what happened, can you provide some evidence to the contrary?

'Another one of my exaggerations'? All of which were vindicated in an article in the Herald Sun today, aside from the corridor thing which I got wrong.
