Need some suggestions on how to deal with some idiot bogan dogs next door.

Basically, I have moved in to my fiancées house where she has lived for 5 years, I've been here for the last year and not long ago we made the plunge and got ourselves a puppy. The neighbors have these stupid pitbull and boxer dogs and this tiny arse fence between the 2 backyards, and then they go and put stuff right next to their side of the fence that the dogs can practically stand up on and look over in to our backyard, and probably jump over if they wanted.

It never use to bother me, I use to think it was funny. I would go and feed the rabbit and the dogs would stick their heads over and look at me the whole time (they spend more time with me than their own owners who prefer fitting shitty exhausts to stock standard cars). However around the same time we got our puppy, the 2 dogs on the other side also had puppies, and I'm guessing this has made them about 10 times more aggressive to the point where I don't go outside without a cricket bat, and I can't even get our puppy to go outside anymore to do her business.

We are saving for a new fence between the 2, but I really do doubt they would even cooperate to just tie their dogs up for a day. Does anyone in the bigfooty world have any suggestions on what we could do in the meantime to get them to **** off from nearly jumping over the fence and trying to maul us. I'm not exclusive to violence, but I'd prefer to avoid it so the 9 (yes 9!) yobbos living next door take time out from drinking and smoking on the veranda in the middle of the day to introduce themselves to me.

Had the same situation myself and have nearly been attacked a couple of times. Also been bitten once. Unfortunatly most state governments in this country have zero balls to stand up to these dead s$&&* owners and outlaw the ownership of wild animals as pets. Until a mass cull is undertaken your options are bugger all.

Keep that cricket bat handy and also add a wooden club to your arsenal. Build as higher fence as possible as a matter of urgency. Keep your dog inside as much as possible and don't let it outside on its own.

If at all possible maybe take the path of least resistance and move. And be sure to scope all neighborhoods first.

Like I said it wasn't a big problem and we've had our puppy for 3 months now, but in the last month they are way worse than they use to be, to a point where I don't believe it's gonna back to how it was with them just sticking their heads over the fence chilling. I'm not gonna call out the breed as I 100% believe it's the owners, no matter the dog.

I collect knives and swords, but I'm not taking those outside with me cause I know then if the animal died I would be the one in the most trouble. Cricket bat doesn't look so bad.

Moving not an option right now

See this is bull@%%@. I'm not advocating starting a killing spree against animals or family pets but you are entitled to defend yourself on your own property. Thou you're probably right. In Melbourne last year a young child was mauled to death in her own home by one of these wild predators and we still had idiots coming out saying the breed were harmless. I agree the owners have a huge role but these breeds of dog are not designed to be kept as pets in suburbia. Its insanity.

As the law currently stands owners are breaking no laws. So no good reasoning with them. But if they don't control them and a bloody dog attacks then swing from the hip.

When the dogs stand on the garbage piled up next to the fence, its head is over the fence on our side. IMO I should be well within my rights to punch it fair in the snout when it's on our property. I have filmed it a few times, not sure if taking it to the council would do any good though

Have I got this right? The dogs haven't done anything wrong. yet you want them gone because you have a dog now.o_O

If they were vicious, they would have jumped the fence by now. Seems their owners are the dangerous ones, how about going after them instead of the dogs.

They are getting more vicious by the day and something is going to happen, at this rate before we have a fence

Definitely need to drop the bait in from over another neighbour's fence if possible. And if you're not too attached to the puppy yet, it might be worth sacrificing it as well to make yourself another "victim" and deflect suspicion.

I don't wanna dish the neighbours as they aren't trouble makers or anything, just clearly people who's priority's aren't looking after their dogs. Pitbulls are the latest fashion accessory right?

"Gee Dub", you were right.

Can you put up something close to the fence that would prevent them looking over? Pot plants? Lattice? Even park one of your cars there?

Have definitely been thinking bout this today, just some chicken wire or something to stretch a few feet about the fence would be enough

But to get that close to the fence I honestly believe I''ll get bitten

Ask the neighbours to tie them up for a bit while you put it up?

Surely you can just go over, knock on the front door, state your case? Or are they unreasonable?

Well I would lean toward unreasonable... having a holey fence that their dogs lean on which is about to give way is not a problem but when there's a snake in their yard which is apparently because it's attracted to our rabbit it's our fault.

I'm trying my best to keep the peace for the missuses sake but this shit is crazy. Makes you appreciate having good cooperative neighbours

Tell them you will bash the **** out of the dogs in self defense.

One thing u could do although a bit long term Is plant something like a bogonvillia (spelling?) They are a climber and grow rapidly but also have nice big thorns dogs hate them, one of these growing on that fence might give some protection

Can you buy pepper spray or something like that ? Spray the dogs in the face then spray the fence.
