Suggestion from some on BF is that Balme was "pushed". Do we believe this?
Absolute rubbish. Huge loss but when you get a big increase in salary as is suggested you would be a fool to knock it back. Saves a long drive each day too. Like Hocking but he doesn't have the skill set or experience of Neil. Good get by the Maggies.

He accepted the job at Collingwood. Steven Hocking to replace him.
Yeah, life goes on. People move around all the time in the AFL. I wish Balme well, he's been great for us. But all good things come to an end sooner or later, and Hocking has been in our system for years now. The transition will be painless for Geelong. At least now we might get some decent updates on player injuries.

I heard Eddie brought out all the Krispy Creme Doughnut outlets in Geelong, and shut them down, then opened one across the road from the Pies offices. It's a dirty plan that ultimately won the day. :D:p

He can only be the new Carey once he glasses a chick in a bar. Then he's made it.

I thought Bundy was trying to be the new Carey?

Or is it still too soon to be cracking jokes?

Balmys recored speaks for itself , long periods at both the Pies and Cats presiding over well run professional outfits.
Seemingly an opportune time for someone else to preside over the next Flag assault - good succession planning with Hocking in the wings ready to go.
Harmonious exit and looks to still be on good terms with the Club. Good result all round.

He's been excellent for the most part but I dont think this new era of more player movement and free agency suits him. He's better at the hands on coaching side of things, that's where he comes from. There are plenty better than him when it comes to negotiation and dealing. The landscape has completely changed and I'm comfortable he's moved on.
